We had an okay stay here during our July trip to Singapore. Main complaint = bad service and filth. PROS:
CONS:
Hmmm, mainly, it seems like Hotel 81 Tristar has a problem with a certain batch of front desk staff. Consider training these guys to at least have some basic customer service skills. This hotel has potential due its pros, but consider solving your cons. Wouldâve wanted to stay here again especially due to its location, but the cons made us not want to...

Otherwise you should think about elsewhere.|This is an old establishment (and if Iâm wrong then it very much looks old) away from the City Centre and is a budget rate that attracts many in an otherwise expensive city but you get what you pay for here.|Having said that I didnât have a problem here with a one night stay being a 5 pm arrival and a 6am departure.|Arrived from Changi airport T3 by train to nearby Paya Labar station which took about one hour all up included some wait time, change train at Tanah Merah station and short walk from station to Hotel. Had large wheeled luggage and small check in bag and found it workable for this type of transfer. HoweverâŠ.if youâre a bit elderly or incapacitated, itâs raining or that hot Singapore sun is beating down on a humid day you may need to adjust. I took a taxi back the next morning as Grab was too slow to respond paying SGD $24 all up which the Hotel phoned on a moments notice and that took around 30 minutes all up but was early morning with a prompt taxi arrival after phone call and no traffic.|Hotel is in a good area for food options which was a âgreat local foodâexperience at a budget price.    Read moreThis is a review of the Deluxe Queen Room. Hotel 81 Tristar is a small hotel located in the Geylang area.
This is one of the best hotels I've stayed in Singapore given the value and facilities. Upon arrival at the hotel, I went to the reception area to check in with the staff. The check in was very fast, it only took less than 3 mins as I booked through an app. đ
ROOM: The room was neat and tidy when I entered, it is was pretty spacious for the price and the design was nice. The air con is good and can be cold at times. There are 4 charging ports around the room for those who need them. â ïž
SERVICES: The WiFi worked great on both mobile and laptops and the TV channels were only local channels. The hotel staff were prompt in replies when you call using the room telephone even past midnight when I requested some coffee packets and they were fast in delivering to my room. (Much thanks and compliments đ) The check out timing is at 11 am.
COMFORT: The bed felt comfortable and I had a great night sleeping here. The shower was good, it can be hot instantly but the best part of the room in my opinion is the bathtub. When I was staying here, there were no noise pollution from the rooms around me, it was very quiet đ
AMENITIES: There is a mini fridge in the room that works well, but there are no safes to store your items. Basic complimentary amenities are provided and the shower has a all in one shampoo + bodywash dispenser. đ§Œ
FACILITIES: So here's one of the great things about this hotel. There is a swimming pool located at the 3rd floor which is open to everyone from 7.30am to 9pm which makes it one of the reasons why this is one of the best budget hotels I've stayed in as I've not been to any others that have an open pool đââïž
OTHER: In terms of accessibility, it's about a 10-minute walk from the nearest MRT station and there are a few bus stops nearby. There are also plenty of food stalls and convenient stores around. đ
OVERALL: I enjoyed my stay here and I'm very happy with the fantastic services that the hotel offered. Thank you for the accommodation, I will definitely book this hotel again in the future and would recommend it to fellow...
