Being a long time resident at Tai Keng Estate, I have seen this location being occupied by an old walk-up apartment with some shops at ground level - 2nd hand car dealers, hyundai agent, bank, ice-cream retailer.. Now, it is replaced by a modern apartment with lifts. I was happy when there was a little supermart, but business was probably bad that it closed after a while, just like some other businesses there. Thought the new building looked rather quiet whenever I drove past (other than seeing taekwondo students practicing sometimes). Somehow, my wife picked up a pizza pamphlet that prompted me to stroll there to visit the newly open pizza shop. There, I saw a bike shop, marine aquarium, mini mart, hair salon, veterinarian, massage parlor and many food outlets including a new Japanese restaurant. Many shops are close, being Hari Raya today. Upon closer look, I realized that many dimly-lited restaurants there were actually packed with diners inside. I chatted briefly with the friendly pizza chef Ifan who was alone, and he told me that he is sharing the biz with few other friends. After waiting about 25 mins, I quickly walked home to have the pizzas with my family, who agreed with me that the Aloha n Pepperoni pizzas were good. In fact, I thot they were much better than those from the popular pizza chains. Mozzarella, sauce and pepperoni were sufficient and tasty, except that the crusts were not crispy enuff and just too thick to be considered thin. I would still recommend this outlet to...
Read moreTier 3 cdo, I wld place this project in. Dormitory-like: one single long and narrow continuous 'L' corridor marked by door after door on either side. All this is set in one single L-shaped block with the longer side of L parallel to 'Lokam' road and the shorter side', the busy 8-lane Upper Paya Lebar road. Inevitably, Noise levels high 24 by 7. Privacy, unattainable. Ground lvl - Retail units; the 4 lvls abv - a few dozens Resi units on each floor. Access within the block: need to take either lift at the lobby on the ground lvl to lvl 2 and then ... walk to another 'lobby' (part of the narrow common corridor actually) to transfer to yet another lift, if your unit is higher than lvl 2. The longer corridor is split, with the farther half being elevated by a flight of 10 steps. Meaning to access those units on that stretch of lvl 2, u need to climb these steps. So, U better have problem-free legs. Signs are molds are developing, both on the external and also the internal walls along the corridors. May I add, there are countless other projects around Singapore that are comparatively worse, alot worse,...
