A Journey from Misty Mountain Pandas to the Depths of the Amazon at River Safari
My recent expedition through the wonders of River Safari felt less like a park visit and more like an incredible geographical journey, seamlessly transitioning from the misty peaks inhabited by majestic pandas to the submerged depths of the Amazon basin, where gentle giants of the water gracefully reside. The ingenuity of the park's design allowed for this captivating and almost dreamlike traversal of diverse ecosystems.
My adventure truly began in the Giant Panda Forest, a meticulously crafted environment that truly evoked the high, mountainous regions of China. The cool, slightly humid air and the lush bamboo thickets contrasting against the sweaty hot temperatures outdoor immediately transported me to the panda's natural habitat. Observing Kai Kai and Jia Jia in this setting, surrounded by the sounds of trickling water and rustling bamboo, felt like a genuine encounter with these iconic creatures in their misty mountain home. Their peaceful demeanour and deliberate movements against this backdrop were utterly enchanting, a serene start to my exploration.
From the cool mountain air, the journey then took an astonishing turn as I descended into the heart of the Amazon Flooded Forest. The transition was seamless yet dramatic, leading me into the hushed, underwater world of the Amazon basin.
Walking through the colossal acrylic tunnel felt like a descent into the very depths of this legendary river system. Above and around me swam colossal arapaimas, their ancient forms gliding effortlessly through the water. Graceful stingrays danced like underwater ballet performers, and schools of vibrant, exotic fish painted the submerged landscape with breathtaking colours. The play of light filtering through the water, casting ethereal shadows, truly captured the magic and mystery of this flooded forest. It was an immersive experience that left me in awe of the sheer scale and biodiversity hidden beneath the surface of the Amazon. The final leg of this metaphorical journey brought me to the tranquil waters of Manatee, where the gentle dugongs, those serene "sea cows," moved with an almost meditative grace. Descending into their underwater viewing area felt like entering a calm, oceanic sanctuary. Watching them glide through the water, their slow, deliberate movements a stark contrast to the bustling life above, was incredibly soothing.
It was a poignant reminder of the diverse aquatic life that thrives in our planet's waters, a peaceful counterpoint to the vibrant energy of the Amazon.
River Safari masterfully orchestrates this journey through diverse aquatic realms, creating an unforgettable experience that transcends a typical zoo visit. The thoughtful design and immersive habitats allow visitors to feel as though they've truly travelled from the mountainous homes of the pandas to the depths of the Amazon and the serene habitats of the dugongs. It's a testament to the park's commitment to showcasing the beauty and fragility of our planet's freshwater ecosystems.
Highly Recommended for a truly unique and geographically evocative wildlife experience!

Read more0.8 star. Too much water. Do better.
My first visit to river safari was back in 2019. 5 years after their opening. While the animals which interest me were limited. At least the park was well maintained. Fast forward 5 more years this place is a sham and poorly maintained.
Even horseshoe crab that served millions of years of evolution died and its corpse are kept in the exhibit. These tell you how much TLC the management has been giving to the site.
Glass of some exhibits were foggy, the worst culprit being the flooded water and manatee can't be seen clearly. One of my favorite location was amazonia encounter which was since i can see the citter up close, but now it is literally full of (bird) sh!t.
River quest has all along been a let down, definitely one to avoid. Once upon a river has always been a highlight thanks to entertaining and expressive Halim but come it is sooo dark why don't you switch on the ceiling light? Also it is soooo sad that the pelicans are limping and two of the carpybara passed away... Sooo sad i like carpybara. And another thing why is it that once upon a river is the only time i can see the cute carpybara? Sure they can be spotted on river quest but you should really have a petting zoo for carpybara and not just import only 2 more, you need a herd!
Due to maintaince only jiajia? Was out and about. I feel very bad for those who are here for the first time. The panda is the main attraction here and you are only displaying one. You should half the price of entry ticket on top of making child/senior citizen ticket free.
My favorite animal here is actually the red panda. Cutest, carpybara close second. However, it was a very disappointing visit. It was fed before the park was open and just lazed around... Or it is just old and sick? I never had such issue in the past. It was always active roaming around and rubbing the tree trunk and branches here and there.
In summary have carpybara exhibit, improve on the maintenance (including don't just have birds in amazonia encounter) and don't feed lazy animals right before the...
