What a fabulous place! The gardens were some of the best laid out for visitors I have ever seen - all the plants were labelled, there was a clear route to make sure you saw everything, lots of information on the original owners and creation of the garden and then the changes when it went into municipal ownership in 1948. You had to feel sad for the owners, being exiled from their life's work after the communist takeover but luckily their legacy has survived. The interpretation centre was just fantastic, I think we spent about an hour there learning about the fauna, geology and animal life of the area. Un vero gioiello a pochi chilometri, circa 15, da Trieste. 20 minuti di macchina, parcheggio comodo dietro al giardino botanico stesso. Pochissimi minuti a piedi e si arriva all'ingresso; il biglietto si compra attraverso una cassa automatica posta all'esterno (costo: 6 euro), poi si accede attraverso comodi tornelli. In questo piccolo ambiente vi sono numerose specie vegetali, vi è una bellissima serra, fontanelle, panchine per ammirare nel silenzio della Natura la vera bellezza della vita. E' un posto davvero idilliaco e sorprendente, con spazi in ombra e in luce, sentieri ben tenuti e passeggiate piacevoli. Venite a visitare questo giardino meraviglioso!

ENGLISH: A real gem a few kilometers, about 15, from Trieste. 20 minutes by car, convenient parking behind the botanical garden itself. A few minutes on foot and you will arrive at the entrance; the ticket can be bought through an automatic cash desk located outside (cost: 6 euros), then accessed through convenient turnstiles. In this small environment there are numerous plant species, there is a beautiful greenhouse, fountains, benches to admire the true beauty of life in the silence of Nature. Con la tessera europea di disabilità avrei dovuto pagare tre euro, ma alla biglietteria automatica con c'era il modo per scansionare il codice QR, quindi niente, non ho potuto approfittare del prezzo speciale. Tralasciando questo disguido, che comunque è poca cosa, posso dire di aver trovato un posto speciale dove stare in tranquillità, ammirare la vegetazione, e mangiare qualche corniola! Oltre a me ho visto solo una famiglia di tre persone, e la ragazza che mi ha chiesto se volevo vedere il "movie", ovviamente nella saletta al primo piano.

Il giardino è ben tenuto e curato in tutti i suoi aspetti, bagni compresi! Vabbè, a dire il vero lo sciacquone andrebbe sistemato, visto che perde, ma è un dettaglio poco rilevante.

Deduco che la zona (e i suoi abitanti/visitatori) sia tranquilla, visto che per entrare nel giardino c'è solo un semplice tornello, facilmente scavalcabile, come anche le varie recinzioni. Ok, il giardino è videosorvegliato, ma credo di aver reso l'idea.
