Our visit to Karusa Wines was an unforgettable experience. We had the pleasure of enjoying two wine tastings, each paired with a delightful cheese board and a delicious pizza.

Wine Tastings: The wine selection was impressive, showcasing a variety of locally produced wines. Karusa Premium Wines & Craft Brewery is a hidden gem located just outside the town of Oudtshoorn in the Western Cape region of South Africa. This family-owned and operated winery and brewery offer a unique and memorable experience for visitors.

The winery offers a wide range of award-winning wines, made from grapes grown on their estate vineyards. Their wine tasting experience is excellent, with knowledgeable and friendly staff who are passionate about the wines and the winemaking process. The tasting area overlooks the stunning vineyards, providing a picturesque backdrop to the tasting experience.

I had an extremely disappointing experience at Karusa. Upon arrival, we were confronted by staff who immediately asked if we had made a reservation. We explained that we hadn’t but were more than willing to sit at any available table. Despite counting at least six unreserved tables outside, we were bluntly told, “No reservation, no table,” by a staff member who leaned over the counter, smiling smugly.

To make matters worse, we were essentially chased away after this interaction. While management eventually tried to intervene, the damage was already done—the unwelcoming attitude and rude comments had left a bad impression.

This was far from the level of hospitality one would expect, and unfortunately, we decided to leave. I cannot recommend Karusa based on this experience. All of this bitterness after visiting Karusa for 7 years in a row on the 30th of December....
