The Northcliff Ridge Ecopark is situated In the heart of Johannesburg’s north western suburbs. It comprises of eleven hectares of undeveloped, almost pristine nature. Northcliff hill is the only high open point in Johannesburg which provides both a beautiful view of the CBD and the country around Johannesburg. In May 2018 the Northcliff Rotary Club renovated the 750m pathway at The Northcliff Ridge Ecopark turning it into an wheelchair-friendly venue to enable everyone to experience the breath taking panoramic views of Johannesburg.. They not only cleaned up the venue, but also install benches and dustbins along the pathway as part of the project.
Visitors are spoilt with plenty of rocks, natural vegetation and 360 degree views. With the northern suburbs of Johannesburg on one side, and the central business district on the other. One a clear day you can even see as far as the Magaliesberg Mountains and the Cradle of Humankind. One also gets a birds eye view of the leafy nearby suburbs with sparkling swimming pools, tennis courts, and fresh green canopies of trees in bloom. This spot is one of my favourite place to visit. I love watching the magnificent sunsets, and enjoy the peace and quite in the fresh air. It is safe enough to come here on my own or to share the experience...
Read moreAs much as it was scary being up there, and the added restrictive breathing due to the strong wind, it was a great experience. We got to see all of joburg from CBD to Sandton and Midrand😄We went on a Sunday afternoon at about two pm during early December, and there were plenty of other folks from all races and ages except infants and toddlers. There is not much parking, so people who stay and have picnics on the rocky slopes (super dangerous) should rather settle for a brisk walk with picture taking, so that others who want to tour the Ridge have parking. We saw people who could be in their early and late twenties, along with teens smoking from those oriental pipes and consuming alcohol on the rocky slopes. This was unpleasant to witness because we had been informed that, sadly, there is littering up there. So, there is no need to bring food or have any kind of picnics there or mini hangout sessions with smoking pipes and alcohol. Just walk, look, becareful and take pictures then go out to a restaurant or Pub🍻 for...
Read moreThis is hands down the best view of Johannesburg and if you come here around late October you'll see so much purple scattered across the landscape because of the Jacaranda trees. The view is magnificent. You can see all the way out to The Dome, Sandton and even Joburg city. Magnificent view, just be careful and don't do anything stupid because there is no railing that can prevent you from falling off the cliff onto a bunch of rocks. It's also very windy near the cliffs edge. There's benches for you to sit on to enjoy the view. Only down side is that even though bins are in clear view, people still throw their trash all over the place, I don't understand why this happens. There's also a lot of youth blasting music, smoking weed and drinking which could make your experience s little bit less enjoyable but the path to walk on is farely long so you can always find a quiet spot. Besides this, the view is worth it. It's truly...
