Went for a winetasting and cheese and charcuterie platter on 1st February. We had made a booking for 13h00.We were a party of 3 and were the only people there. The person at the desk was helping another party to arrange an Uber. We announced ourselves, informing the person what we wanted and went to sit outside. 2 more people arrived about 5 minutes after us. About 10 minutes later the person who would conduct the tasting came to inform us how the process worked. On ordering the platters she said that they didn't have all the ingredients (mainly olives) for the platter and thus couldn't serve us a platter. This was very disappointing as we chose DMZ specifically for the platter. We have been there on 2 previous occasions a number of years ago and were impressed. We said we would forego the olives and she said she would make a plan with what they had. She then started serving the party of 2. After 20 minutes we asked her if she could pay attention to us. She poured us the Cap Classique which she had been holding for the full 20 minutes in 34 degrees. She also then informed us that no platter would be forthcoming as they actually had no ingredients. Each of our tastings were about 3 tablespoons of wine. The ladies toilet had not been cleaned that morning and was smelling. The bin for the dirty paper towels was completely full/overflowing. We left absolutely disgusted and very disappointed. We have very rarely had such incompetence. We went down to Jordan Wines and they provided a top...

The wines are some of the best that we tasted in South Africa after visiting roughly 50 wineries. Specifically the (red wine) Maestro Red 2016 - superb and (white wine) the 2007 Reserve Chenin Blanc - so rare and unique, very interesting, the 2019 Rose, and the Reserve Chardonnay 2018 (personal ranking reflected).

One of Tim Atkin's favorite wineries year over year and I can see why.

After years of many many wine tastings in many parts of the world I must say that Kudzai was one of the best and most technical and detailed explanations of the entire wine making process, equally he was impressive with his excellent service, attention to small details, knowledge, and great conversation.

When you combine excellent wine with impeccable service and you add a lovely property you are in for a very memorable...

Extremely disappointed. We had reserved a table for 10 for wine tasting & cheese platters well in advance as family from overseas where visiting. When we called to say that we would arrive slightly later we were told sorry that they had tried to call us yesterday & today that they wanted to cancel on us because they had a bigger group that had reserved before us & that they could no longer accommodate us. We never received any call/s from them & had we not called we would have arrived & what would have been said then? Suddenly we were left to find another place to take our family - very stressful & severely disappointed in De Morgenzon. We had been there twice before & had been raving about it, referring other family & friends so this was understandably...

Booked a table for 4 and when we arrived, advised the waiter that we were in fact 5 and the happily accommodated for this. It helped that we were the only table there besides a table of 3 that was on their way out. We ordered all 3 of the different tasting options and our waiter got all of the tasting allocations correct. Tasting portions were very small but was made up for a decent size platter for 2. It was suggested additional bread was purchased, which we did. The wine is okay - Syrah is not to my liking but for a farm that specializes in white wines, it was understandable. The enthusiasm from our waiter was a bit lack luster but if you are looking for a unique winery with unbelievable views (on the "stoep") then I'd recommend you give DeMorgenzon a go.

Visited for an afternoon tasting and had the most wonderful experience. The tasting took place on a lovely patio with amazing views of the vineyard and was nice and quiet. The tables are nicely spaced so you feel as though you have some privacy. The service from the gentleman who led our tasting was fantastic and he was so knowledgeable and provided a down to earth tasting experience. The wines were excellent with special attention going to the Maestro red and white blend. This was our favourite tasting experience in Stellenbosch!
