Surprised by all the positive reviews. We booked for a picnic after reading the positive responses and were very disappointed. The gluten-free picnic basket was nice, except for the fact that the gluten-free bread was completely stale and inedible. In this day gluten-free options should not be an after thought. I would recommend supplementing with crackers rather than stale crumbly bread. The tart in the non-gluten basket was very dry and really not well made. Our group was located in the furthest picnic pod which was the least desirable out of the options on the lawn, and we were told that the other pods were booked however no one arrived to occupy the other pods throughout the day so we could have had one of the better areas and this was disappointing. We were told that our server would visit us every half an hour to see if we needed anything else, but he visited us once during the entire afternoon. Because we were left without service, we made our way up to the restaurant to sit down and order our coffee there, but we're told we couldn’t sit at the restaurant due to a private function: most of the restaurant was empty and we were told to move. We then ordered coffee to enjoy in the upper garden and were served this in takeaway cups despite specifically requesting it as a non take-away. All in all, it’s a pity that the service is so lack lustre and that one is made to feel like just another head. Pleasant setting but not spectacular, and due to the service there are far better picnic options to choose from in the winelands. Would...
Read moreWe stayed at Jordan during our honeymoon trip to South Africa and had such a wonderful time. The hotel accommodations are superb with amazing attention to detail - the robes and toiletries are all locally sourced and great quality and smell! The rooms are quaint and have fire places in them. We stayed in a regular room one night and got upgraded to a suite the second night, both were great but of course the suite was extra nice.
The service is impeccable and Matthew was such a delight. He made sure we had the best time and helped us plan our wine tastings, recommended the best dinner of our trip at De Vlaspleis in town, and even drove us there himself at 8pm bc we couldn’t get another ride.
The breakfast that is included is delicious and the setting next to the lake under the willow trees is even better. We had a wonderful tasting of their exceptional wines that was also included with our stay; but would highly recommend it as a vineyard you must visit even if you are not staying there.
We were not able to dine at their famous restaurant because they are only open Thurs-Sun and we were there Tues/Wed, but they have these really fun gourmet dinner baskets that you can order a bit in advance and we ate them at our room on the beautiful patio. Very reasonable and tasty and a fun experience.
They also put in a new pool recently that was lovely, although we never really had time to enjoy it unfortunately.
Highly recommend this vineyard, restaurant and hotel! Top notch service and quality and you can’t...
Read moreWhen we had a Jordan “Cold Fact” wine in Namibia for dinner two years ago, we felt immediately in love with the wonderful taste of this wine.
Back in Germany we wanted to have this wine at home. Fortunately I found a seller, not far from Munich (see my review here on Google) who had a considerable selection of Jordan wines and so we ordered the entire Jordan offer from top to bottom.
We were amazed. Not only the “Cold Fact” Sauvignon Blanc but all other Jordan wines had a outstanding quality and a wonderful, unique taste. Since then we were something you could call: Jordan fans 😊🍷
So, we decided to return to Namibia, but this time to go all the way down to see the Jordan Wine Estate as the final destination.
We drove almost 3500km all the way from Windhok to Stellenbosch to join Jordan.
What should we say? The trip was completely worth it and it was exactly why we did it.
Jordan is without any doubt more as the best wine from Africa. Jordan is a lifestyle.
The property, the rooms, all these nice people and their passion and love for Jordan and its company policy for good and fine things, the great view, the lovingly compiled picnic and dinner baskets, the attention for details… just everything!
Now that we were here we just love Jordan even more. In the future, we will feel the feeling of light, pleasant wind, sunshine, wonderful tranquility and these unique Stellenbosch vibrations in Munich by every new open bottle of Jordan.
We just have to come back asap! Thank you...
