Paserene Franschhoek — Attraction in Stellenbosch Local Municipality

We visited Pasarene on our last trip 3 years ago and very much enjoyed the wines and the beautiful setting. This year we went back and they have been busy building a new room and an entrance gate and I understand with more to come. The setting remains absoluely stunning and the wines eve better this time than the last time we were here. The highlight of this visit though was Ruben, who did our wine tasting. A very friendly, engaging and knowledgeable chap who we engaged in interesting conversations with about wine, sport, different cultures. He couldn't do enough for us and even brought us wine to our hotel the next morning on his way in to work after managing to get hold of some bottles we couldn't get on the day. I look forward to seeing him again, either here in Europe on his travels or next time we visit South Africa, where we will stop at Pasarene again. It is a must now on any trip we do to the winelands. I tasted their Chardonnay a while ago and always promised myself to pay the farm a visit. It’s a lovely wine farm and tasting room but I was really disappointed by the wine options available for tasting, the pricing for this and the general service received. There were only 3 waiters for a full tasting room (it was full inside and outside) and they are responsible for administering the tasting (talking customers through each wine), clearing tables and making the cocktails on offer. When we were there they were experiencing loadshedding so we couldn’t order much else, otherwise the lady assisting us would have had to prep our snacks too - there was no kitchen staff. I understand that times are difficult at the moment but I don’t think it’s fair or acceptable for each waiter to carry that many...

I recently enjoyed a wonderful wine tasting at Paserene Lounge, and it was an experience to remember! The selection of wines was both delicious and thoughtfully curated, making each sip a pleasure.

We also indulged in a cheese and sausage board, accompanied by a variety of other tasty dishes. The combination of flavors was fantastic and complemented the wines beautifully.

The setting on the terrace overlooking a small lake was simply idyllic, especially with the fantastic weather we had that day. It created a perfect backdrop for a relaxing afternoon.
