The Graskop Lift Company is located just south of the town of Graskop along R533. Opening hours are 8.30am to 5pm daily. Note the conservation fee of R20 per adult and R10 for children to visit this activity centre.
There is a fair amount of parking at the Graskop Lift Company as well as clean toilets, a cafe, art gallery, souvenir shop and the typical curio stalls that you may have seen at various attractions along the Panorama Route in this area of South Africa.
Note: At the moment, the highlight attraction, the 51 metre lift is not operational according to their website. It was down when we visited and there was no estimate when it would be operating again.
Luckily, there are other fun activities to do at the Graskop Lift Company. These include extreme activities such as zipline and the big swing into the gorge below. There is also a nature walk, allowing visitors to descend 50 metres into the gorge to enjoy an interpretive loop trail through the forested area.
We enjoyed this 45 minute walk, taking in numerous educational stops along the way. Just be ready for one long descend and reascend back out of the gorge. Best to have good walking footwear if this is something you may be interested in doing.
After our walk, we had coffee and cake at the Life Cafe, finding this to be a good addition to the Graskop Lift Company.
Overall, we were quite pleased with our visit to Graskop Lift Company even if the Lift was nonoperational. There seems to be plenty to do/see here to keep most occupied and happy with their visit, making this a neat stop to include for those making stops along the Panorama Route which passes...

Read moreWe had a remarkable experience during our visit to this establishment, which my girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed. We specifically included this stop in our holiday itinerary all the way from Pretoria. Our activities included engaging in zip lines and experiencing the thrill of the big swing in the canyon.
While it is true that the cost for the short-lived excitement and adrenaline rush may be considered somewhat high, the transformative impact of the experience made it truly worthwhile. It is worth noting that some confusion arose during our exploration, as once we reached the top again, there was no option to return without repurchasing the lift ticket again. And there is no stairs to go explore the canyon at the bottom?
Despite the day being characterized by extremely cold and unfavorable weather conditions, it ultimately proved to be an exceptional one. Credit goes to the highly professional and friendly staff, setting them apart from other establishments I have frequented in the past.
For those with the means to afford this adventure, I wholeheartedly recommend embracing this opportunity...
