Clifton 4th Beach is without a doubt one of the most beautiful and relaxing beaches in Cape Town. Tucked away beneath the cliffs and luxurious homes of Clifton, it feels like a hidden paradise, serene, sheltered, and incredibly scenic.
The soft white sand and crystal-clear waters are simply breathtaking, and the beach is well-protected from Cape Town’s famous winds, making it perfect for sunbathing and picnicking. It’s also Blue Flag certified, which means it’s clean, safe, and well-maintained.
Clifton 4th is popular with both locals and visitors, offering a chic yet laid-back vibe. Whether you’re taking a dip in the cool Atlantic, soaking up the sun, or enjoying a sunset with friends, the atmosphere is always vibrant yet relaxed. The views of the Twelve Apostles and Lion’s Head in the background just add to the magic.

The beach itself is pristine, which is quite the feat (thanks to the cleaning staff) as it quickly fills up with people throughout the day. The bathrooms were also very clean.
There are quite a few vendors renting umbrellas and loungers ⛱️ (would highly recommend if you don't bring your own shelter as there isn't much shade), as well as those selling ice creams, cold waters and drinks and other snacks .

And the atmosphere here is just awesome. We visited during different times of the day and there is always a great vibe. Beach volleyball on Thursday evenings, families and young children welcome, friendly faces everywhere... Worth every bit of hype to visit...
Read moreWe always love going there whether we are a large group of friends and family or a smaller, intimate family or friends group or even as a solo visitor it's always worth my time as the place is always fun with the most beautiful sights and scenery. It's also enclosed so can't get too busy and too full with too many people. I love getting there early, spending the whole day and having a good time. There are always security guards inspecting the place incase some misbehaved people bring alcohol which is not allowed on the beach. They are friendly and great to interact with. There are also Municipal workers every morning cleaning up the beach so it's always clean. The water is lovely and cool, very much needed for these hot African summer days and everyone has a good time from young people...
