Glen Beach — Attraction in Western Cape

This is a great dog-friendly beach. Note that dogs are only allowed before 9am and after 6pm, & it is a poop-scoop beach. It's not great swimming as the rip currents are a bit vicious, but it is a good place to learn to surf as the waves are large enough for that without being too large to overwhelm a beginner. If you just want to build sand castles, people-watch, watch sunsets and hang out with friends, this is a great beach. Contrary to most, I always favour Glen Beach above its more famous sister, Camps Bay Beach. It's more secluded, surrounded by massive rocks. The waves are far bigger, while the sand is as soft, white and hot as next door. In fact, there always seem to be great waves for surfing. This accounts for all the surfers in their wetsuits sitting on their boards at the wave break.
