Very very disappointing. Worst experience ever. We expected way more. Even though we called 1 week earlier and made a reservation, in which we also mentioned that we want to sit somewhere with a nice view, they weren’t able to manage the table order. There was a huge line of people only waiting to be seated. After waiting 45min we had to start to annoy the waitresses. We wanted our money back, because we payed 20€ per person in advance (for us 100€, 5 people)and wanted to go somewhere else. Sadly we gave it a chance and stayed. All in all o ure impudence for that kind of service.
The place was most probably way too full to enjoy anything. We didn’t had any kind of nice view despite promises on the phone.
We ordered directly when the waitress seated us so that we don’t have to wait any further. It took another half an hour for just our drinks..
After sitting 1 1/2 hours 3 from 5 starters arrived. Three dishes were supposed to be hot/warm but it was cold. Even though 3 people had their starters infront of them there was no cutlery. So they had to wait again till the food was ice cold. After waiting another 20min for the last 2 dishes we asked the waiter how long it will take. He decides to tell us that the quality of the two dishes weren’t good which is why he didn’t bring it. What a lame excuse. Why wouldn’t you say that before we order it? Or let us directly know?
After that whole irritating things our main dish took another 40min. Finally my cocktail arrived which I ordered in the beginning, but I had to give it back because it was just bad. I got a new cocktail which directly came and was way better than the first one. The food was good-ok but there is no comparison to how it used to be, despite that they have way too expensive prices for all of this. If I could, I would give 0 stars.
Don’t get me wrong I have understanding for a full restaurant and a busy kitchen but not for a very bad service. This was the last time for us coming here. A complete Disaster, just terrible. All very very...
Read moreAfter being on our bucket list since the re-opening, we finally made it here for a relaxed late lunch on Saturday, September 7th. Upon arrival, our party of three was promptly greeted by the front of house staff, who confirmed our booking and showed us to our table. Menus were provided shortly after, and our water order was taken.
The restaurant’s picturesque views are definitely worth experiencing alongside a good meal and cocktails. We began our meal with the shaved beef carpaccio and fried baby squid. The starters were well-presented, with fresh ingredients, and arrived within a reasonable time. While both dishes were tasty, they lacked a distinct, memorable element that would set them apart.
For the mains, we opted for the truffle burger, truffle fillet with thick-cut fries topped with parmesan and truffle, and roast chicken with rice. Once again, the presentation was beautiful, complementing the stunning views. However, the kitchen initially forgot to add the extras to my fries. The waiter quickly apologized and rectified the issue within minutes. Both the fillet and burger were cooked to the requested temperature, and the waiter checked in to ensure we were satisfied with our meals. While enjoyable, the mains, like the starters, didn’t quite deliver that memorable flavor we had hoped for.
Overall, the experience was pleasant. Our waiter was friendly and professional, which definitely enhanced our time there, as did the breathtaking views. If you're planning a visit, especially in summer, be prepared for longer wait times as both tourists and locals flock to lounge on the couches and soak in the scenery.
My advice: bring good friends, order generously, and take in the beauty of the mountains and ocean, it should help with...
Read moreThis is probably a nice place to watch the sunset and enjoy a cocktail - as many other comments here state it!
However, we found the music loud and stressful between 20:30 - 22:00. Nothing for a relaxed dinner certainly. Also, this place is huge and tends to become incredibly packed with people who apparently visit the bungalow ‘only’ to be seen (we should probably have done our DD more thoroughly here. So that’s on us!).
However, this experience goes hand in hand with very poor service (incomplete cutlery on the set-table, the waiter had absolutely no idea about the menu nor the wine on it, they did not check in on our wellbeing once while there, and then: our food arrived before the drinks and we had to actively ask for it after a few minutes. Then, the wrong wine came (red instead of white plus wrong white wine… (the correct ones did not even arrive before having finished our dinner)). Food tasted actually quite okay, to be fair!
Nevertheless: Horribly expensive compared to other similar places in Cape Town (we spent 1000R / 50€ for two main dishes, some still water and two glasses of wine, no fancy extras), PLUS we ended up with food poisoning from the baby calamari or the sushi (shared both) - which ruined the next few days of the vacation for us :/
Bottom line: This may be a very subjective view and is only based on a singular visit, but in my opinion there are definitely too many good spots with a nice view in cape town to waste your time at...
