My recent visit to Constantia Uitsig in Constantia was nothing short of enchanting. From the moment I entered, I was captivated by the charm and sophistication that define this exquisite estate.Looks relaxing with greenery scenery from the vines.

Read moreWhat is being done about the constant Baboon invasions? Do one of our kids have to be mauled or killed before the monitors are allowed onto the property to help manage them and keep guests to the farm safe?
This is now the 3rd time we have been at the farm and had a baboon appear out of nowhere. The first experience was while my 4 year old sat at a table eat ice cream only to have a huge aggressive baboon jump on the table and growl at him. Thankfully the baboon ran off at hearing my child scream and nothing else happened but my child is now extremely traumatized. It was a struggle to get him to the car, and it's been a struggle to convince him to visit the farm again - a place he used to love and was a regular fun afternoon outing.
We have done a lot of work in teaching him about the reasons why the baboons are prevalent in the area and emphasized that we have a role to play in protecting them, but that they are indeed wild animals that can be unpredictable. Visiting the farm two further occasions to try and establish that is a safe space our child can enjoy, and rebuild his confidence and trust have failed as on both occasions the entire troop have been allowed to run amok through the estate terrorizing patrons. He was visibly scared and does not want to go back.
At this point, our family's safety is paramount, and until the problem is being proactively addressed, we cannot continue our...
Read moreI have visited this farm frequently over the past 40 years and have always appreciated its offerings. However, I was deeply disappointed to discover that they are now charging customers to park there.
What’s particularly annoying is that there’s nowhere else to park outside the farm, and there’s no reason to park there other than to visit the farm itself. There are no other nearby commercial operations, so customers are left with no choice but to pay this fee if they want to visit.
This comes across as blatant commercial opportunism. Tourists, as well as loyal patrons who have supported the farm for years are now being gouged for an easy clip of extra revenue. It feels egregious when this fee is tacked onto what customers already spend on the farm’s goods and services.
While I’ve always enjoyed coming here, this new policy makes me question whether they truly value their customers or whether they are prioritizing profit at our expense.
I urge the farm to reconsider this exploitative approach before they risk alienating the very people who have helped make it successful.
Until then, I’ll be rethinking my visits and telling others about it over a glass of Buitenverwachting or...
