The Korean popular singer, Kim Gwang-seok was born in Deagu but raised in Seoul mainly. However Daegu City made the Kim Gwang-seok street in order to commemorate him following his name.
He was a folk song singer playing an acoustic guitar for himself like John Denver, with the same artistic value and popularity. The sad death is same, too.
Kim Kwang Seok Street is a mural street near Bangcheon Market where the now deceased Kim Gwangseok used to live.
The 350m long wall has statues and murals depict his life and music. Every autumn, the area of Bangcheon Market and Dongseongro hosts a “Kim Gwangseok’s Singing Contest” in his memory.
