Merry Christmas 🎄 from Korea! _ 1.5 hours away from Seoul, the 📍Garden of Morning Calm shines bright with illuminations from December to March! We stayed at a hanok right beside the Garden (5 min walk) and there are a lot of restaurants/cafes in the area too. (The Garden has also been featured in a lot of K-dramas; I would love to come back in the fall to see all the foliage.) _ . . . . . . . . . . . . #korea #koreatrip #koreatravel #gapyeong #seoultravel #winterwonderland #koreawinter #lightfestival #gardenlove #gardenofmorningcalm #gardenofmorningcalmkorea #coupleactivities #winterinseoul #winteraesthetic #winteractivities #winteractivitiesforkids #winterphoto #wintervideo #gyeonggido

I recently had the pleasure of visiting 아침고요수목원 during the fall season, and it was a truly memorable experience. As soon as I stepped into the park, I was struck by the stunning colors of the foliage. The red leaves and yellow gingko tree leaves created a striking contrast against the blue sky, and I couldn't help but stop to take in the beauty around me. As I strolled through the park, I felt a sense of calm and tranquility wash over me. The air was cool and crisp, and the sound of leaves rustling underfoot added to the peaceful ambiance. I enjoyed taking my time and pausing to admire the various trees and plants in the park. The different textures and colors of the foliage created a feast for the eyes, and I found myself feeling grateful for the opportunity to witness such natural beauty. One thing that struck me about the park was its name, 아침고요수목원, which translates to "Garden of Morning Calm." I couldn't think of a more fitting name for a place that offers such a sense of serenity and stillness. It was a welcome break from the noise and chaos of everyday life, and I felt rejuvenated after spending time in the park. Overall, I highly recommend a visit to 아침고요수목원 during the fall season. It's a beautiful and peaceful oasis that offers a much-needed respite from the stresses of daily life. Whether you're an avid nature lover or simply looking for a quiet place to unwind, you're sure to enjoy the natural beauty and tranquility of this lovely park.

We regrettably started the morning late so ended up late at Garden of Morning Calm which became a blessing in disguise as it was less crowded as all the tour groups were leaving as we entered the park. It is comparable to similar night illumination parks in Japan, be perhaps in Japan there was more animation so it was a bit more interesting. Regardless, i still enjoyed the various themes in the different areas of the park. Would not recommend coming all this way just for this, but if you want to visit Nami Island/ petite france etc then it is a nice ending to your day trip. As mentioned, photo spots are crowded so the lesser people the better, therefore go later. Best to self drive as the last bus leaves quite early. We paid a fixed 6000 won for adult, 4000won for child; which brought us from Gapyeong station to Nami Island and then Nami to Garden of Morning Calm. It is a 1 hour bus ride from Nami Island so either eat first or bring snacks along the way! During the light festival it closes at 9pm, but the last bus leaves at 8.30pm so if you drive you can enjoy a little longer. 1 hour should be a enough time to enjoy all the areas of the park (depending on how cold and do well dressed you are) but easily 2 hours if you like to take pictures etc. There are snacks outside the park, and luggage lockers if you need to leave your backpacks etc. Would come back in Summer next time :)

I visited here in the Winter on a Saturday evening. The display was beautiful (light displays for the Winter), but the area was PACKED. It made it difficult to properly enjoy the display or even walk through the area. The paths felt about a meter and a half wide or less, and people would be standing on one end and taking a picture of someone posing on the other end, blocking people from passing unless you walked into their picture. I encountered this every few meters of walking. There was a suspension bridge, which was fun to walk on. Though both times we walked across it, boys or men tried their best to jump on the bridge, or pull hard on the side rope to make the bridge sway. I guess they wanted to scare/bother their moms/partners/daughters? Many of the exhibits were closed, including the green house and the rock gardens, as well as the "best course", things that I thought might have been enjoyable in the Winter. It was a nice exhibit that was a lot worse due to how many people there were, and the poor behaviour of many people there. It definitely didn't live up to its name of "calm". If you go on a weekday, you might have better luck than I did. Still, I am curious to see if the garden is nicer and less crowded in the Spring or Summer.

This was one of my favorite gardens or arboretums in Korea. Located up in the mountains and getting there in the late afternoon allowed for it to be slightly cooler than when we journeyed to Nami Island. Since the gift store was going to close by the time we finished we went there first. The vast selection of natural herb products was excellent. They allowed you to try so many of their products which were of high quality and worked wonderfully. Many of the workers spoke English. They were very helpful and kind. After amassing our products, we started out exploration. Every corner and nook held surprised and allowed you to feel the wonder and mystery of nature and it's beauty. My desire is to see this haven in all 4 seasons. Summer held a glory of hibiscuses, Rose of Sharon, all around. This flower is quickly becoming one of my favorite blooms.

We come during mid of May, which is Spring season, it is really beautiful to visit at this season, it offers colourful flowers and landscape. Garden of Morning Calm offers 30+ gardens as shown on the map. Unfortunately it was raining quite heavily during our visit, but it gives you a different experience, only downside is your shoes get wet. It was tight schedule as we were with day tour, we were only allowed a little over one hour here to walk around. Nonetheless we managed to cover about 85% of the map in a moderate speed. Personally would’ve prefer more time (at least 2 hours) as there are cafe and bakery inside for you to chill and also to spend more time on each garden. My personal favourite was the Korean House, during raining day the rain dripping from the rooftop is a mesmerising scenery .
