2024년 11월 19일 월미산 둘레 자락에 있는 이민사 박물관. 개항 후 제물포 항에서 이민자들을 실어 나르는 배들이 들고 나갔다. 먹고 사는게 힘들어 더 잘 살 수 있다는 말에 하와이 멕시코등으로 이민을 많이 갔다. 모두 상대방의 필요에 의한 속임수에 가까운 설득이라고 할 수 있을 거 같다. 타국에서 하는 고생은 향수병을 더 추가할 뿐이다. 이민 살이가 더 고생스러웠다는 뜻이다. 그 쪽 사정을 모르는 이민자들은 소개자들 말 외엔 얻을 수 있는 정보가 없으니 말이다. 그 이민자들의 자녀들이 디아스포라의 이야기를 다큐로 만든 우리 작품들이 나오기 시작했다. 우리 역사에서 또 다른 한편의 아린 부분이다. 그들도 그들만의 역사를 만들어가고 있다. 살면서 고생없이 사는 사람이 얼마나 될지 모르지만 대부분의 사람들이 어려움을 겪으며 살았다. 본토가 아닌 타국에서의 삶이 어떠했을지 알 수 있는 박물관이다. 아~ 여기서 또 이승만 때문에 열받네. 이승만이 적극적으로 하와이 이민을 권장했지. 내가 판단할 건 아니지만 이민 자체가 좋았는지 나빴는지는 선택자들 몫이다. 그러나 정부에서 정확한 정보없이 권장한 건 나쁜 짓이다. 우리나라 개항기 역사의 일부고 아프고 슬픈 역사다. 월미도에 가면 반드시 관람할 것을 추천한다. 대형...
