Hay que echar la vista atrás… y viajar al Valle Salado de Añana…

Su origen se remonta a 7000 años atrás. La sal comenzaba su particular historia de poder y dominación.

Llegar hasta el Valle Salado de Añana es fácil: sólo hay que tener la decisión tomada. Los caminos son fáciles: una salida de la autopista en Pobes, y, a partir de ahí, seguir la carretera hasta Salinas de Añana, bella y recogida villa, con las casas cercanas a las laderas, buscando su cobijo, y dejando el espacio y el valle a las eras y las granjas, auténticas reinas del entorno.

Merced y gracias al innegable compromiso institucional, el Valle Salado tiene futuro. Esas salinas, mantenidas durante siglos por medios tradicionales y absolutamente ecológicos, a punto estuvieron de sucumbir al cemento y el egoísmo, que llegó a romper y destrozar muchas granjas y eras, y poner en peligro al resto, a principios del s. XX. Decisiones absurdas y banales, que no tenían en cuenta ni tradiciones, por un lado, ni el buen saber y hacer de los salineros por el otro, que durante siglos habían mantenido sus construcciones a base de madera y arcilla, y que intuían que debían seguir manteniéndolo así para el futuro.

Déjate llevar, visitante!!! Disfruta. Abre bien los ojos y el resto de tus sentidos. Siente la historia y el trabajo tremendo y sacrificado de los salineros. Ríndeles un pequeño homenaje, y llévate a casa la sal que con ahínco trabajan.

You don’t find traditional salt mines like this anymore. Was intrigued by the high 5 star rating for this place on google and realised upon arrival that you are offered 5% discount at the shop if you give a 5 star rating! We drove an hour from Logrono to visit this (it is €20 worth of tolls both ways) and would say it was not worth it for us. We did the standard tour and got to use the spa baths after.
