The aquarium is closed for renovation. It wouldn't have bothered me as much if this information had been present on the actual website or on the official website of the city of Almuñécar, but alas it is not. Not even on the aquarium's Facebook page which has a post as recent as the end of october 2022 with the opening hours, which differ from most places I looked. In the afternoon, it opens (when not under renovation) at 16:30 instead of 16:00.
The notice at the ticket office also doesn't state for how long it will be closed.

Read moreThe facilities are quite old and outdated. The exposition and it's contents are basic, like something made by a secondary school alumni. The tanks are too small and many are empty. There is only one nice tank with big sharks but even these sharks can be too big for the main tank. Entrance is expensive too and even when they accept credit card, most international cards won't work with the terminal (as explained by the cashier) so bring cash too. No cafetería so eat...
