I recently visited Platja d’Aiguablava and was struck by its stunning beauty. The turquoise waters and the surrounding natural landscape make it one of the most picturesque beaches I've ever seen. The sandy shore is clean, and the water is incredibly clear, perfect for swimming or just soaking up the sun.
However, there are a few things that might detract from the experience for some visitors. First, the beach can get quite crowded, especially with families and small children. While this is great for those traveling with kids, it may not be ideal for those seeking a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere. If you're looking for a more tranquil experience, it might be best to visit early in the morning or during the off-season.
Additionally, while the beach offers a variety of cafes and restaurants, I felt there were perhaps too many for such a small space. The abundance of eateries along the shore takes away a bit from the natural charm of the beach. Fewer cafes would allow for a more peaceful, unspoiled environment where the focus could remain on the stunning natural beauty.
Overall, Platja d’Aiguablava is a beautiful destination that is well worth a visit, but be prepared for crowds and a somewhat commercialized atmosphere. It’s a great spot if you enjoy a lively beach environment with plenty of dining options, but if you’re looking for something more serene, you might want to explore other...
Read moreA perfect example of how people can ruin things. Waaaaaaaaaaay overcrowded. Like, we had to search for 4m2 to lay our towels, and it was difficult. Largely a 20-50 year old crowd. Many topless, but not awkwardly so. Pretty sure I saw two people banging in the water though - made more evident by the bulge protruding when he exited. Not pleasant to see when my intention was to watch my kids playing 8 metres in front of them. Ugh.
Parking was also extremely difficult. There was a lineup, which we (politely and justly) manoeuvred past, but it was still there two hours later. Paid €3/hour. FYI we arrived around 1pm on a Saturday.
Worth noting there are a couple of restaurants, and ice cream shop, and kayak hire right on the beach.
If there were no or few people, this would be a 5-star beach. Amazing scenery in an incredible spot. Unfortunately that wasn't the case, so 2...
Read moreIndeed a beautiful sandy beach and some coves. During summer, and after 10am, the beach gets really really crowded. Was very good for Snorkling. There are services like kayaking, boat renting. A few restaurants, and an exterior shower. Note that the access to the beach and parking is controlled. I would say that half of the beach area is private for a hotel/restaurant and kayak renting shop, which leaves not a big part as free access. The parking above is not that big either. 3 euros per hour. Be aware not to park on the outside roads as I understood that they pick up the cars. In the end, seems that this beach targets a specific group of persons. The ones that are willing to pay can enjoy...
