One of the worst parts of this place is they think they know everything. They don't. Half the staff can't speak proficient English. Staff have a bad attitude and will just ignore you if you make them aware of any issues. I emailed and was just ignored. At checkout nobody even asked how my stay was or acknowledged my emails. Unprofessional. The pillows on the bed are like bolster pillows for a sofa. Crumbs in the furniture. Staff don't even know what a turndown service is and it is listed on their website. The breafkast buffet is a circus with the items not replenished or maintained for visuals and cleanliness. Expect 3 kids breathing over everything and touching and dogs by the display. The food should honestly be better as well--reminds me of a Lufthansa business class lounge in terms of quality. Expect to wait 30 minutes for cold pancakes. The women in the restaurant Delayanay has a nasty attitude. If I ask politely for a table outside the answer is just a minute sir. not you have to wait. Smoke detector alarms blinking all night . The pool person needs to be fired and get out of the hotel industry. Bad attitude. Don't forget to charge me for bottle of water and then come to interrogate me for my room number. Go back to hotel school and manners school. hydro massage doesnt even work. water is supposed to go from warm to hot, vice versa to cold. when I entered the facility the spa women said enjoy and did not even show how to operate anything. Close the hotel and go train at a Aman or...
Read moreNot a bad word to say about this hotel. Beautiful restoration of a historic palace overlooking the bay in Getxo. Not located in the middle of Bilbao, but you won't miss that. Super easy train to Guggenheim and plenty of free on site parking. |All of the common areas of this place are gorgeous, the dining areas, lounges, spa and gardens--nothing is overlooked. Our room was off by itself so we didn't stay in the old part of the house, but will request that on our next visit. We had a lovely seating area, a huge bed, plenty of places to put our things. One small detail that a little off was the tub/shower in our room--it was sort of dark and slippery. But I did request a tub and didn't end up using this one because it was a little lacking. |But we did book the water spa in the Spa--we had the whole place to ourselves for a full hour and it was PERFECT!! Loved every bit of that place. |Breakfast every day was served on the terrace overlooking the harbour. The food was very good. We spent time at the lovely pool in the late afternoons where we had a drink and a snack and chilled and that was also great. |Would highly recommend this hotel! Oh, and the staff are all GREAT!! Everyone was super well trained and very professional. I wish every hotel was run like this one. Kudos to...

For those travelers who don’t want to read my detail review, this is a short review: As a world traveler who has been in 44 countries and has stayed at some of the finest hotels and resorts around the world, I give my highest recommendation to stay at Palacio Arriluce Hotel to any one who is planning to visit Bilbao.
Extended review: Property was an old castle which has been brilliantly renovated. You see all the elements of its old charm blended seamlessly and tastefully with modern architectural and interior designs.
Location is superb. It is located in an upscale quiet seafront residential community, walking distance to the old port and restaurants and cafes.
Legendary service at its finest. Hotel staff deliver a unique and memorable experience at any point you interact with them. There was an issue with our booking for the hotel side. Ainara, the front office manager, reached out to me proactively and offered a generous resolution.
If you are planning to Visit Bilbao Palacio Arriluce is a great option as long as you have a rental car. Presidential suit at this hotel is...
