Bodega Conatvs is a standout destination in Fuerteventura, offering a unique wine experience deeply rooted in the island's volcanic landscape. From the moment you arrive, the dedication and passion poured into every aspect of the winery are palpable.
Our guide, Isabella, was exceptional—knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate about the craft. She provided insightful explanations about the cultivation of grapes in the sandy, nutrient-rich volcanic soil, and the innovative techniques employed to thrive in Fuerteventura's arid climate.
A highlight of the visit was exploring the underground bodega, meticulously carved into solid basalt. This naturally cool and insulated environment is ideal for aging wine, and stepping into it felt like entering a sanctuary dedicated to the art of winemaking.
The tasting session was both generous and enlightening. We sampled three distinct wines:
Conatvs Pink (Rosé): This wine boasts a notably intense raspberry rose hue. On the nose, it presents aromas of red fruit and red caramel, complemented by subtle marine notes. The palate is flavorful and well-structured, offering fresh, balanced, and unctuous sensations of ripe red fruit, with a pronounced salinity and a long finish. Definitely a new favourite!
Conatvs Airam (White): Crafted from Malvasía Volcánica, Diego, and Listán Blanco grapes, this white wine is characterized by its dry profile and vibrant acidity. It pairs excellently with pasta, rice dishes, fish, and seafood, making it a versatile choice for various culinary experiences.
Conatvs Tinto (Red): A blend of Listán Negro, Listán Prieto, and Tintilla, this red wine is noted for its intense ruby red color. It offers a balanced and persistent flavor, with a fruity and floral aroma. The wine's structure makes it an excellent match for red meats, cured cheeses, and traditional Canarian dishes like gofio, mojo, and papas arrugadas.
Each wine was thoughtfully paired with local delicacies, including goat cheese, olives, and homemade bread, enhancing the overall tasting experience.
If you're visiting Fuerteventura and seek an authentic experience that encapsulates the island's unique terroir and winemaking heritage, Bodega Conatvs is an essential stop. The combination of passionate storytelling, distinctive wines, and the serene ambiance of the basalt bodega makes for an...
Read moreThis is a relatively young vineyard. It really is in its infancy or production with 3 blended wines and 1 single grape. If you are genuinely interested in gaining knowledge on their rather unique growing style then I'd say go and have a look. If you think you're going to get a vast tour with much wine drinking in caves then you will be upset. There isn't a carpark, if you have limited mobility you probably won't enjoy it, I'm slow and the guide never waited for me to catch up before the next presentation. There is also considerable construction work being carried out and there was building dust in the air. The wines are ok, young, blended from their own grapes. 30€ per bottle and 60€ for the single grape, cash only! They are also available in a small local production shop at the airport for 37.95€ per bottle near the B gates access. I asked some local friends and they weren't aware of the vineyard. For the development of the vineyard over the past 30 years or so and the awards they've won then 5 stars! I appreciate wine and I appreciate they are in constant development. I congratulate them on their success so far but it's not a blogger paradise and probably isn't worth £35 per person with no carpark and no prior warning of construction work. The lady presenting is very knowledgeable and delivers the information professionally although, if you don't have wine production knowledge you could get lost in the translation...
Read moreWhile visiting the local Mercado de las Tradiciones in La Oliva, someone selling wines local to both Fuerteventura and other Canaries recommended we visit this place. As we've had great wine experiences on other Canary Islands and love visiting wineries/vineyards whenever we travel, we thought why not? And it was very close to where we were staying. Unfortunately, we arrived and a tour was already in place with the one staff person. We said we were happy to wait for the 30 minutes or so until it finished. We then joined the tour group for a tasting and received an informative presentation of 3 wines. However we felt the 30 euro charge for the 2 of us for 3 tastings each was disappointing. In addition, we watched as the others enjoyed plates of fruit, cheese, bread and olive oil paired their tastings. There was also no refund or discount off the tasting fee if a purchase was made. I wanted to give this feedback as we haven't come across an experience like this before. There were also a number of people arriving while we were in the tasting but it seemed they had to be turned away as the 1 staff was engaged. I'm giving 3 stars as I don't fault the staff person and feel they did their best...
