Periurbano Porzuna Park — Attraction in Mairena del Aljarafe

Spectacular, by far the best park in Mairena. Beautifully maintained dirt paths (which are stroller-friendly or perfect for jogging), three playgrounds for different ages, calisthenics area, dog park, a vegetable farm, and most fantastic: expansive trails through diverse ecosystems. There are cork oaks, pine forest, ponds, and so much more. With the light hills you also get nice views of the sky and countryside — it feels like you are really in nature! There are lovely signs to show the birds, plants, and other animals which may be found in each ecosystem. Plus many of the birds can be seen within the park.

For parents, the playgrounds have a great sand base for playing, plenty of benches, water fountains, trash cans, and picnic tables. There are plenty of bathrooms though they are locked in winter.

Overall the park is really nicely maintained and make it feel calm and serene, plus dangerous areas (like the pond) are closed off which is perfect for children to enjoy safely. Better maintained than Parque Central and most other parks here. I truly don’t understand the negative reviews — there is far less dog poop here than anywhere else in Mairena! Maybe those reviews are specific to the dog park area which seems to receive a lot...

Es una pena que un parque que era precioso lo están convirtiendo en un descampado: cada vez menos árboles y vegetación. No sé quién es el lumbreras especialista del Ayuntamiento que manda cortar árboles cada vez que le meten mano. El "sendero botánico" es el "sendero de la comedia", por lo menos se puede distinguir alguno de los arbustos secos de lo que dicen los carteles (estos arbustos, por decencia, no los arrancado como a los demás, porque el sendero perdería su nombre). Los nuevos caminos parecen cortafuegos más que caminos, porque se ve que lo que quieren es espacio abierto sin vegetación; cada vez se escuchan más los coches de la carretera pues no hay vegetación que haga de cortina para el ruido... Bueno, y qué decir de las casitas para pájaros en las palmeras... no soy ornitólogo pero me gustaría saber qué ave autóctona va a querer habitar en esas casitas de las palmeras (espero equivocarme con esto último). ¿La obra han sido 240.000? ¿7 meses cerrado para este...

Wonderful urban park in Mairena del Aljarafe, a few kilometres far from Sevilla. Free parking. Two artificial ponds with ducks a d frogs, an urban orchard and a complete collection of alien trees with their full description. Perfect for weekdays, not too good for weekends when people...
