While reading the reviews for both this cave and the Drach caves we were worried about the amount of tourists. We decided to take these caves and took the earliest 10am slot. Everything was very relaxed and our group was only 15 people.
The tour did only take about an hour and if you combine it with the combo of Dinosaurland right next door the price is quite good.
For our family of a 2 and 5 year old the tour length was perfect. There are 2 video screenings: the first is a history about the cave and the other a genesis story about the universe and life on earth. That last one is a visual spectacle of projections on the cave wall.
The tour ends with a small underground lake and some music that is played while you look at the shore at some videos that are again projected on the cave walls.
The tour is not recommended for strollers or wheelchairs as there are many stairs and some pathways are quite narrow. In summary a fun visit with caves that are slightly different than others we've visited in Europe. Come early and relax.
As a bonus the restaurant that is located at the grounds is quite good. Yes, they sell burgers and fries, but a a high quality level. Tastes like actual meat with good quality fries and nuggets. Not to be compared with...
Read moreHams Caves is really a nice touristic cave experience.
This is the second set of caves on the island of Mallorca that I've visited, and this one is definitely much better than the other one.
There's ample parking and it's quite easy to get there. You can buy tickets at the gate and the price is more than fair for what you get. I think kids under 4 are free, so that's great too.
The experience is basically a walk through the underground caves, with a few extras thrown in. They have 2 video 'experiences' that are definitely pretty cool and there's a musical light show at the underground lake. That's also quite fun.
The caves are well lit and organized and the groups are kept to a good size so that everyone can enjoy the walk through. There's multiple languages offered for the tour and the tour guides seem to be knowledgeable if you have additional questions.
There's a bit of walking, but not a crazy amount. However there are quite a few stairs, so if you are walking handicapped, or have many very small children, this will likely not work for you.
After the tour there's a very small gift shop and a small cafe restaurant if you're hungry.
All in all, I'd say it was worth it for me. I'd visit if you're in the area and need to kill...
Read moreAlthough we are far from childhood, my daughter and I first visited Dinoland. An impressive, fabulous, adventurous place. Created with an eye for detail and giving an idea of the size of this ancient world. The cave is not just a magical place. Whatever I say about the natural features will be little. I was impressed by the way in which the human hand and mind have made the depths of the cave accessible to visitors. The projection for the audience was very interesting. There was only one thing that didn't fit into the atmosphere of the cave. I understand that the hall with the lake has a resemblance to Venice. But this opera in German and Italian that followed... We were in Spain, it would have been nice if it was in Spanish. Not to mention how many pirate times the island had. How many battles and defenses. Not "Pirates of the Caribbean", but something that fits the setting would have been even better. However, the friendly staff, the sound system, the lighting, the secured galleries and access road, as well as the weather - a weekday not crowded with tourists - made the time spent there worthwhile and unforgettable. Thank you for preserving, taking care of and making these beauties...
