Charca de Suárez — Attraction in Motril

Fantastic nature reserve near the beach at Playa Granada. We had a friendly and knowledgeable guide to show us round the turtle zone and butterfly house. So generous of him (and others) to volunteer his time to do this. Took about an hour for us to walk around the reserve stopping at viewing huts to observe the wildlife on various lagoons. Although it was supposed to be open 0900-1300hrs on this Sunday it was closed, locked with a note on the gate closed Saturday and Sunday 20/21 August. No notification on the website. So wasted journey from Malaga for us. Other unhappy people had travelled from Granada...

Un lugar de visita obligada para amantes de las aves, la naturaleza y el medioambiente. El sitio perfecto para ornitólogos y fotógrafos de naturaleza. Hay que ir en silencio (no uséis los móviles ni habléis fuerte) y pisando flojo así veréis más especies, recrearte con los sonidos de las lagunas estando un buen rato mirando por los obervatorios. Recomiendo llevar prismáticos. Cuanto más tiempo pasas mirando, más animales descubres y descubres cómo interactúan entre ellos. Por el camino también puedes encontrar alguna musarañita, ranita meridional, galápago leproso o incluso camaleón, muy importante respetarlos y nunca sacarlos de su habitat. Es un ecosistema muy frágil que ya ha sufrido bastante por la construcción y las especies foráneas invasoras como las tortugas californianas y erizos africanos que abandonan...
