I'll be totally honest, we turned around because of how sketchy the route to the beach was. The road you need to take is called "Barranco de Maro" which you can take turning on the left (facing malaga) after the roundabout located after the bridge which crosses the gorge which leads to the beach (again facing malaga). Cars were parked just before the bridge once you come around the back side and people walk to the beach from there (15-20 minute walk). I was with my SO and we walked 10-15 minutes on the Barranco de Maro "road" before my SO insisted we turn back because of how sketchy the road was. Basically the road leads you down a heavily vegetated 1 person wide dirt road which crosses multiple shacks along the way. This is not, by any means, a rich/touristy place, the shacks are basically hand made shelters... I'm sure it is safe, but again it wouldn't have taken very much for us to rapidly be in a dangerous/bad situation. I'm not a huge guy and it was just a little too sketchy for us. We could have easily been jumped by 2 guys and not much we could have done. I'm sure the beach is awesome and quaint, but if you're looking for a romantic and less populated spot, try the Caleta de Maro which, even though is probably more crowded, won't have you questioning whether a day at the beach will turn into a...
Read moreThe most beautiful beach I've been to on Costa del Sol! The hike to the beach is roughly 1km and I would recommend sneakers or sandals with a good hold. Doable in slippers — and that is how locals do it, but the ground is uneven and dusty. It takes you about 10-15 minutes to do the hiking part and it is worth it! The beach was so beautiful and the sight was breathtaking. Because it was so remote, we felt comfortable leaving our stuff unsupervised and nothing got stolen. The beach is small so you can probably easily get someone to watch for your stuff anyways.
The beach is quite remote so especially if you're by foot, make sure you have a small snack and lots of water with you. There are no stores close by. Especially if you're visiting tbe Nerja Caves (I do not recommend them, they were expensive and kind of average) make sure you buy food and beverages before traveling to the...
Read moreLovely little walk down there through a trail path which had some bamboo tunnels, very small pebble beach you enter on to but go right for another small pebble beach. It was very clean making me hope people took respect of the 2 signs basically saying don't little and empty your body there !
*There were 4 guys, mentioned in other reviews as "hippies" etc and beware of them. Utter nonsense, I went and spoke to them, 1 guy spoke enough English to have a little chat and he said they live there during the summer. No problems with them at all, they would actually probly appreciate people 1. Respecting the signs and 2. Actually talking to them and treating them as the rest of us - why would we ?! Tbh they have a bloody lovely garden (the clear sea) ! Only 4 stars as it...
