Pago de los Capellanes. The Bodega to go!

Thanks for your exciting visit to Pago de los Capellanes, a renowned winery located in the heart of the Ribera del Duero region.

It was an absolute pleasure to discover this superb Bodega with Vanessa. We had chosen a complete tasting with six wines, including a mix of reds and whites, and we didn't regret it. The price was more than justified, considering the exceptional quality of the wines, the diverse range of wines available, and the insightful explanations provided. The wines, with their exceptional quality, are sure to intrigue and delight any wine enthusiast. During the visit, Vanessa showed us every aspect of this beautiful Bodega: the rich family history, the contribution of each family member, the long-term vision of the business, respect for the environment, and a structured business plan. This deep-rooted history and vision make you feel like a part of the Bodega's story. The quest for perfection and innovation is the driving force behind this Bodega. Whether in the configuration of the winery buildings, the layout of the tasting area, the care taken in designing the boutique, or the service of the wines tasted. Everything is geared towards a successful customer experience. The wines, undoubtedly, are of the highest quality. The Crianza is a marvel. It's on par with any Reserva or Gran Reserva. No wonder it accounts for almost 50% of sales volume, with nearly 450,000 bottles sold. The other wines are equally impressive. They are precise, long on the palate (thanks to the Tempranillo effect), balanced (alcohol-acid-tannin), with no aftertaste (stalks, leaves) and just the right amount of wood (oak, vanilla) generated by aging in quality French barrels. It's a journey to appreciate the gradient of difference between the simple Joven cuvée and the plot-based cuvées. This is the art of winemaking, from the vine to the cellar... which allows for moments of pure pleasure around the wines of Pago de los Capellanes. I highly recommend this Bodega to wine lovers who appreciate the finer things in life and quality as a cardinal virtue. Here's to many more delightful wine tastings for future wine...

At 9 o'clock we asked if we could taste wine later and return a cork-flavoured wine (cost 25 euros) that we had bought elsewhere the night before. The answer was yes. An hour later, they didn't want to know any more. We have to go to the shop where we would have bought it. That's a 45-minute drive. Any argument that the mistake in the product was made here and not in the shop didn't help. We asked for the boss, but he wouldn't come. So we asked if we could taste and if we would buy for 100 Euros or more, we could agree on the wine with tapping taste. Although there was a tasting room, they didn't want to know anything about tasting. We then wanted to leave and mentioned that we would do a Google review. Then the employee called the boss for the fourth time and had a short discussion with him. Then she pressed a replacement bottle into our hands and asked us to leave. The wine was not worth the 25 euros, by the way.But what was really annoying was the customer friendliness of this winery. It was very cheeky how we were treated and that with a faulty product.

An excellent tour and tasting, especially considering the price which is quite accessible. You get the full tour of the beautiful winery, with lots of information about their history as well as the wine production process. We tasted three wines with complimentary snacks. Our guide was Vanesa who really knew a lot a about wine and the winery, and seemed to be able to answer any question on the go. Nice to have a guide who actually knows about wine and not just the...

Our experience with Vanesa and the entire facility was virtually perfect. She was incredibly accommodating with our late arrival and patient plus informative and able to curate the experience in English with our limited Spanish. The grounds and the buildings were stunning, the wines beautifully presented, and the hospitality wonderfully orchestrated. We will look forward to presenting Pago de Los Capellanes Wines in our San Francisco location.
