El Arenal — Attraction in San Cristóbal de La Laguna

Great beach, good waves, but who wants to come here for surfing is not welcome even with absolute compliance with surf etiquette (stay in line, keep smiling, say hello, no snaking, etc.). After 30 years of surfing the world around, i never felt such a bad vibe on the water. No matter how respectfully you behave, you have no chance to establish yourself and are grumpily expelled from the spot by the locals. Unfortunately, these experiences among guest surfers have been on the rise lately. A very tragic development, especially in punta hidalgo. Since there is besides surfing a beautiful idyllic town with many nice people. Not sure why this beach has the review that high and is considered top place for beginner surfers. This is absolutely NOT suitable for beginner surfers. The waves that are close to the beach are very chaotic with a lot of side current, so practicing on the foam is very inconvenient. Also, the beach is not very accessible, you have to go down (and up when goind back) the narrow road to get from the cliff and then walk on a shore full of boulders, only the beach itself has sand. The worst locals I have ever encountered while surfing anywhere on this earth, they are the most crazy and aggressive people you can imagine, surfing etiquette doesn’t matter, the second they see you even just sitting in the water with your board they will non stop scream at you, insult you and threaten you, someone should call the police on them.
