Monestir Sant Benet de Bages — Attraction in Sant Fruitós de Bages

A disappointing experience. It's an interesting place with a fascinating history and they have a good collection of art and artefacts but the monastery has been turned into a cheesy audio visual experience. You get ushered into the rooms, then the lights go down and videos are automatically projected onto objects and walls. The footage was mainly digital, fake antique cinema with actors. The computer animated imagery was clunky and unconvincing. Only when the high-tech presentation was finished were we permitted to move on to the next room. We were ushered through the buildings from station to station. I just wanted to leave and explore the place for myself. The guide was nice but he didn't really know that much, but to be fair he had just started on the job. The experience was expensive too - over 23 euros to attend both the Medieval and Modernista tours. Terrible value for money and an experience I would neither recommend nor wish to repeat. It is a shame as I felt that they had choked the place with technology and in doing so rendered it soulless. Basically it's a video experience housed in a medieval building. I am sure that the 10th century building would have been a much more interesting place 30 years ago than...

Knowing that place was open till 6pm (info from Google), and that there was plenty of tickets available online for most days and at least 2 late sessions available, we arrived about 3pm to find that monastery was closed for the day and no guides available to show us around. Our mistake that we wanted to buy tickets at the venue (after few experiences where tickets were sold with no service available during our visit). No chance to wonder around on your own apart from seeing walls from outside... And suggested viewpoint visit about 1km away could have been done by car, instead workers suggested walking , wasting another half an hour of our time for nothing... That's additional to 3 hour round trip to...

A beautiful and historical place to eat. A place that exist from 10 th century. Good services and fair prices. I started with a cream of pumpkin with prawns and scallops in the begining that. Very good. Then i tried guineafowl stuffed with foie gras and pistachios, typical wine sauce and spherical dry fruits. A good idea to choose it. And finally a coconut ingot and pineaple...
