These watchtowers were designed to warn of attacks by Turks and Berbers. Built in the second half of the 16th century as a defence against Algerian pirates, it was declared a Site of Cultural Interest in October 2002. In 1528, the Cortes of Monzón agreed to the construction of works to defend the coast, as well as the creation of a coast guard. It has three floors and is covered by a semicircular vault. It has loopholes, which are long, narrow openings through which pirates were shot, and some windows.
