Restaurante Can Truy — Attraction in Santa Eulària des Riu

Today I went to Can Truy with my family as we have read about the good ratings. Arrival was already difficult as there was a small concert going on in parallel. Staff was apparently not well trained. As a wine we got offered a French Bourgogne wine. As we are in Spain we asked for a dry white wine from the region. The recommended Mar de Prades was a higher priced white wine which was really disappointing. The greetings from the house were served in a small glass with some cocos flakes. The curry flavor did not convince and was rather flat in aroma. The starters ( duck tataki and the tuna ) were good. For the main dish we ordered the signature dish Pekinese spare rips and the grilled marinated entrana. The warm dishes were on our table but as the waiters had cleared all silverware before we had nothing to eat with. Finally we got the silverware ourselves from the neighbor table. We have lived long time in Asia but the taste of both dishes were far below average and particular for the spare rips the portions would qualify as starters max. Also the grilled marinated entrana was really flat and missed the desired softness and a real marination flavor. We had high expectations but cannot recommend anybody to go there as the price quality relationship is not worth it. The one star is for the location and the starters. I pretty much never write reviews but felt compelled to after visiting this restaurant. Simply spectacular. We got the 9 course tasting menu. Everything was top notch but the king prawn with corn puree and jalapeno gazpacho is one of the nicest dishes I've ever eaten. The watermelon infused gazpacho with tomato ceviche and basil sorbet, the spicy tuna tartar on seaweed and the peking ribs to finish also stood out. Can Truy is a great restaurant with very tasty food. The staff was so friendly. This saturday the 12th of june, Can Truy will also open at the same location next to the restaurant a Café with cosy chairs and next to the organic kitchen garden where you can see the fresh beetroot, peppers, lemons, courgette,..you name it. A new concept with healthy food straight from the garden. Thanks to the owner Axel, we could taste also of that concept..in one...
