What can I say…. What a shame. The vineyard tour was OK in reference to many of the others I have done. The wines are nice enough and produced organically. However I really do not appreciate receiving a different level of service to other customers, presumably based on assumptions made on my appearance (young, solo, female traveller). I arrived to the tasting very early (10, the tasting was at 11) in comparison to other couples who either arrived 15 minutes late or only made it to the final tasting. I was happy for it to be conducted in Spanish, which is not my first language, for the benefit of the group. And yet, at the tasting, whilst the host spent several minutes explaining every single wine to other participant tables, one by one, handing them a plastic card with tasting information for each wine. I only was told the name of the grapes and the year. Didn’t receive the cards until two wines later and didn’t even get the tasting notes for the last two. I should say my level of Spanish is pretty decent and there was another couple from Brussels as well as the tasting-only couple who only spoke English. So it wasn’t a language barrier issue. To reiterate, a couple that arrived 15 minutes late to the tasting and another that arrived only for the tasting (and only spoke English) got better service than I did. Furthermore, the tour and tasting was meant to last 45 minutes. I had to push back a restaurant reservation twice to over an hour than previously planned. I can completely agree that for some people, a much longer, leisurely wine tasting is amazing if they don’t have anything else planned on the day. But for many others, like me, especially in august where things get very busy, it is essential to make other plans and reservations based on the « time of visit » and the tasting. This led me to not fully appreciate the wine tasting as I was preoccupied and stressed about changing logistics and plans. I should note that whilst other guests were helping me find a solution not once did the host suggest to give me all of the wines at once to speed up the process, or call a taxi to help me out. And finally, to my first point - I’m pretty sure assumptions must have been made based on my appearance. Needless to say that I did not end up wanting to buy their wine to complement my 150+ bottle collection, nor do I want to pass on their information to various wine importers and contacts in the industry I know. As I mentioned, making assumptions on people’s appearances, perhaps, isn’t the smartest thing to do. The experience left a sour taste in my mouth.
Response to owners response:
Funny how you say you value all feedback and have high professional standards, and yet call my feedback “silly none sense of my imagination”. Is this really a way to speak to customers? Maybe check your English language skills because in my country those words would be considered deeply unprofessional and offensive. Do you call your other clients with negative feedback liars too? I think this does all but confirm the way you treat your clients. Hopefully this also shows very visibly to other prospective customers. “Bothering other clients” - they were nothing but happy to help. Unlike you.
Clearly you did not take the time to read my feedback - I stated that I had no issue with the tour being conducted in Spanish. “It was not a language barrier issue” is what you would read if you had even bothered to read the so-called “valued feedback of your customers”. What I had an issue with was the differential treatment, not being given tasting cards nor having the same level of service or explanation as other clients (who arrived 15 minutes late, not 5, by the way).
The tour and tasting lasted until 1:30 pm. For a tour starting at 11 and meant to last 45 minutes does this sound reasonable to you, a nearly 2 hour tasting, for 5 wines? I’ve never been to a winery with tastings that long without prior warning. Given the very few words of explanation given to me for each wine it should more likely have lasted 20 minutes,...
Read moreImpressive negative impression… For the first time in Cataluña I’ve been treated as a thief or something like this. I just entered the store to see the wines they have. Nobody there to explain. I started to see the bottles and consult Vivino app to get more information (as I said, nobody to explain anything). Suddenly comes a lady behaving in a very strange way, telling that I can’t be there (in a store?). Saying that those are the norms of the company (I didn’t ask anything). Could be ok, but then she acted like an expulsion from the store. Closed the door on my back, telling that I should wait for her because she was busy. I notice how she was behaving so nervously; then I walked calmly to another space, which seems to be a restaurant (with tables inside). The same lady comes again, closing the door in front of me. I went out of the place while the same lady was still calling me: “sir, sir…”.
To be honest, it’s the worst experience I ever had in a commercial place. Hope the owners listen to the comments, not to judge or say that this is “customer’s imagination” (as I read in another comment here).
Dear owner, if you consider that this is my imagination, please don’t reply. Even though the intention of the comments (not only mine) is helping on the improvement and not to generate the same bad experience you provided to me and some other...
