5 Stars – A Hidden Gem of Tranquility and Beauty

Kallady Beach is one of those rare places that instantly makes you feel calm, peaceful, and connected to nature. Located in Batticaloa, this beautiful stretch of coastline is still relatively untouched by heavy commercialization, which adds to its natural charm and authenticity.

From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the serenity of the place. The beach is clean, the golden sand stretches far, and the waves roll in gently — making it perfect for a relaxing walk, a quiet picnic, or just sitting back and enjoying the view. I went in the early morning and again at sunset, and both times offered breathtaking scenery. The sunrise was soft and peaceful, while the sunset lit the sky in warm colors that reflected beautifully on the water.

What really sets Kallady Beach apart is how peaceful it is. There weren’t large crowds or loud music — just the sound of the ocean and the occasional fisherman going about his day. It felt safe, welcoming, and truly relaxing. There are a few local stalls nearby where you can grab fresh snacks or a king coconut, adding to the simple but fulfilling experience.

If you’re visiting the East Coast of Sri Lanka and looking for a quiet beach that still feels genuine and natural, Kallady Beach is a must. It’s perfect for solo travelers, couples, and families alike. I’m already looking...

Kallady Beach Kallady (Tamil: கல்லடி) is a village within the Batticaloa District of Eastern province of Sri Lanka. It lies north of Batticaloa city. In 2004 Tsunami affected the village resulting in major loss of life and property. Falling under the category of ‘most peaceful beaches’ in Sri Lanka, Kallady Beach is one of those places where people who despise the noise would feel completely at home. Located about 40 minutes from Pasikuda and separated by the Batticaloa lagoon, Kallady Beach is as much a balm for the weary eyes as it is for the fatigued mind. Unfortunately, unlike its neighbours, Kallady Beach is not completely safe for swimming as the water tends to get a bit rough here, but if you’re an experienced swimmer, it’s still possible. The sunsets at Kallady Beach are also not to be missed, as the fiery streaks of colour ballooned against the surface of the sea are sure to spark a fire in you.
