One of the most beautiful historical buildings of Paramaribo Capital. This wooden cathedral is much worth visiting. It has a rich history. of course you also can attend a service there. But the St. Petrus and Paulus Basilisk is open everyday for visitors. Do make a small contribution for maintenance do. that helps to keep it the way it is. inside there is a lot of decorated Cedar wood ornaments.

Inside of the church looks well-maintained. It’s accessible to anyone (usually 9-13H) for free, but you can also donate small amount of cash that goes to church maintenance. There’s a dress code as mentioned also by other reviewers previously. They also have a small shop inside where you can buy rosaries, bible, candle, bracelets, postcards, etc.

While walking around downtown Paramaribo, we visited this location. This is an impressive cathedral. It is the tallest and largest wooden church in the area. Work has been done to this building to restore it. We saw one side of this building is still being worked on. Interesting place to visit and to see this historic cathedral.

The lady inside was from the start overly pushy about the "option" to give a small donation in the trunk. I walked a little inside and took 1 or 2 pictures and was right away about to leave. I had just changed money into local currency and I had only big bank notes so I thought I would do that some other time. The lady became absolutely nasty and pressed me to get out, closing the door on my face, seething with harsh words. I was accompanied by an 86 year old tourist who didn't understand what was going on but had to leave as well. As I tried to answer she was raising her voice and I prefereded not to insist. Scary and sad experience. Beautiful building otherwise. Make sure you have small change if you...
