BEAUTIFUL AND MAJESTIC - A fine center for a city that has a lot to offer. The Örebro Castle is worth a walk around and the castle tour is fun. The only reason for 4/5 stars is because of the gift shop. It is loaded w cheap products from China and when one failed and we tried to return it, they resisted the refund and were snarky. Please, this is Sweden and it is loaded w crafts that are made LOCALLY. Utilize your resources to promote this beautiful country and get rid of the trinkets that can be found in every gift shop around the world.

During our 2018 Scandinavian tour, we came across the medieval Orebro Castle, which was conveniently built on a small island, on the Svartan river, in the town of Narke, Sweden. It was originally part of the fortification prior to, and during the reign of the Vasa royal family, who expanded on it, and in more recent times, was virtually rebuilt around 1900. Some of the rooms are currently used as classrooms for local pupils. An extremely impressive, and imposing piece of historical Swedish architecture.

Do not waste your time.or money ($15/pp) touring the inside. The top floor is the only floor requiring a ticket and it was very disappointing. All of the period furniture has long since been removed and none of the paintings are originals. No palace rooms, nothing inside to indicate it's origins as a castle. It is now used as exhibition space. If you are specifically interested in the exhibition at the time, go ahead. But do NOT pay to tour the castle. Just take your outside pic and move on. If this review saved you $15 and an hour of your life, please click helpful below.

Nice castle for families to discover, great location in the center of city of Örebro. Lots of program and kids to do inside the castle, you can make a coin as suvenier, or make your own small money bag from leather slices, wear a knight clothing and harness, take photos with the Queen, also shoot with bow and arrow is possible. And for parents or others there nicely made videos from castles history to check with QR codes from mobile phones. Highly recommend visiting this place!

Örebro castle is a historic place beside the river(svartån)which divides the town in two. Once it was a jail. Today some parts of the castle is open for the public. Many shopping centres and restaurants available in the area. Local bus station is annexed to the castle. The train station is about 5 minutes walk which connects northern and southern parts of Sweden. To Norway and Denmark can made on another train station (Hallsberg) about 20 minutes by train.

A nice historical building, with historical emptiness inside. There's no exposition in the castle that is even barely related to the history of the place or its direct historical purpose. Sad. There's a nice bakery on the spot, souvenir shop. Entry ticket 150 SEK per adult. Guided tours are a waste of money. Area around is full of art works and installations ( not historical either)... like industrial size inflated human heart floating in the river?....
