Tropikariet is divided into three floors and a basement with different settings on each floor. The ocean, the djungle etc. In some of the settings the animals walk freely right next to you (you are however not allowed to touch them), which gives a very exotic feeling to it. A lemur sat on a tree branch straight above of my head as one example. There are also reptiles here in various forms and shapes. One of the areas have been set up to mimic the night where small monkeys were jumping around between trees and something (was possibly a bird but it was too dark to see) flew past us right above our heads, a bit scary but also exiting to be so close to the animals! :) There's also a cafe where you can watch the meerkats that lives next to it and if you're lucky they might come up next to your table to say hi! (their area is enclosed by glass though so they can't steal your food :) ) Well worth a visit if you are interested in animals and wish to visit them in an...
Read moreWorth a visit! I had no idea that so many animals were out of cages and moved freely around the rooms in the facility! We got to experience curios lemurs and some very daring small monkeys, bats, parrots - very cool! We had some fruit with us for the kids to snack on, which caused a lot of attention. We had everything hidden in the backpack but still they smelled it and didn’t leave our stroller alone. Nothing too excessive but was a little overwhelming for our 7 & 5 year olds who were worried for their baby brother. But there were no issues.
In the basement we got to meet a tiny crocodile, and fish that love to eat dead skin off the fingers 😆
The place isn’t particularly big, so about 3 hours is enough. A little steep price-wise (220kr for a grownup), but I’d say it’s worth it.
Free parking for 2,5h hours. There’s a cafe but we didn’t have the time. Elevators are available and it’s ok to move around with a stroller. Wasn’t too crowded either.
Loved it,...
Read moreIts a great place to visit, you get very close to the animals especially on the 2nd floor, the monkeys would fly overhead and next to you, birds perching inches away, they have great theming and enclosure design, if you are looking for inspiration for your own reptile or enclosure ideas I recommend a visit here.
The day we visited they had an event where you could pet a juvenile crocodile. They occasionally have these happenings for free, you can call in advance and check, but these activities can also be booked for more extensive interactions.
The negative is that its all locate in a single building across a few floors so it can get a bit crowded. Come early to avoid crowds. And the price is a bit steep.
All in all it was a great place to visit, but not quite enough to blow my mind.
Pros: Interactive displays Getting close to animals Beautiful displays and theme You can book animal meetings in advance
Cons: Its small size means it prone crowding Price...
