Remontées Mécaniques de Grimentz - Zinal — Attraction in Anniviers

Had various problems on the system with long breakdowns on the route up to Bendolla, and across to Zinal. Needs more attention to be 100 percent operational. Also the arrival of big coach parties at Zinal could be better handled. Do school parties really find it better to dump 150 child in one group at the bottom. Or should they be advised to dose the whole party into small groups. At the lifts school party groups tend to skip the queues by diving under the partitions. And the lift operators seem to allow parents with very small children to use Red runs and slowly plow down the Piste. The Bendolla to Zinal express is slow, and for Zinal users is a real dog leg as you are dumped in the Village not at Bendolla. Grimentz is very pretty and the village is has the feel of a Swiss theme park about it, although it is the genuine article.

The skiing is extensive but not all the areas are linked, other than by bus. There is a good range of pistes available, but it lacks the monster bumps runs you will find nearby in Verbier. Having said that, it is much quieter than Verbier. Grimentz & Zinal are mostly north facing and snow is therefore fairly reliable. Leider sehr enttäuschend. Wir waren dort und wollten Schlittenfahren. Uns wurden Tickets für mehrere Fahrten verkauft. Oben angekommen mussten wir feststellen, dass die Schlittenstrecke komplett unbrauchbar war. Zum Grossteil war nicht einmal zu erkennen, wo die Piste sein sollte. Schlussendlich sind wir durch den Tiefschnee gewandert und haben einen Teil auf der Skipiste zurückgelegt, um wieder nach unten zu kommen. Dies war nicht nur enttäuschend, sondern auch gefährlich. Aus meiner Sicht hätte man uns niemals ein Ticket verkaufen dürfen, geschweige denn ein Mehrfahrten-Ticket. Das Personal des Skigebiets war sich der Situation und dem Zustand der Piste definitiv bewusst. Vielleicht nicht diejenigen am Verkaufsschalter, aber diejenigen an den Stationen. Als wir dann reklamierten, wurde uns nur ein kleiner Teil erstattet (die Differenz zwischen Einzelfahrt und Mehrfachfahrt). Wir haben also 25.- pro Person für etwas bezahlt, das wir nicht machen konnten, und unter diesen Bedingungen nie gemacht hätten. Schade, dass man sich nicht auf das Personal und die Angaben des Skigebiets verlassen kann. Diese 100.- (+40.- Schlittenmiete) hätten wir definitiv besser investieren können.
