Beautiful site but terrible service.
Sunday 22/12, with a slightly snowy and cloudy weather forecast, we booked online ski passes the night before and after re-checking the weather on the same morning, head up to Grindelwald. Upon arrival at the terminal, we find out that there is a storm alert (unannounced on Jungfrau's website) with 100km/h winds at the top and all lifts stopped. We wait 1h until 10am and staff advises not to go up (only the trains were running, all lifts closed at this moment). At this point we haven't even retrieved the ski passes yet so we head for the counter and ask for a transfer of the unused passes to the next day. The staff tells us that he could help if we had bought them at the counter but since it is an online purchase, we need to see with online customer service. So we contact the online service who responds: "Sorry, since we ended up opening a handful of slopes during the day and our policy doesn't allow for any transfer, too bad for you, thank you for your understanding." So we bought 4 passes that we did even retrieve and were advised by Jungfrau staff not to attempt skiing because of a storm they didn't announce (even that very morning on their own weather tab) and it's our fault and our cost.
I live in the Alps and ski all season long every year in all kinds of resorts in France and Switzerland mainly, it is the first time I come across such appalling service. Very disappointing that the quality of service by Jungfrau doesn't even come close to the beauty of the site. There are plenty of other great resorts in Switzerland with equally good ski and views, so not planning on coming back here...
Read moreI wish the pictures could represent at least a bit of the beauty of this place. But the truth is that seeing those views with your own eyes is an incomparable event. Traveling to this land will make you feel reborn. Our itinerary took us to Interlaken ost, Lauterbrunnen, Wengen, Mannlichen, Grindelwald, Eiger, Kleine Scheidegger, Jungfraujoch, Murren, and gimmelwald. The whole area looks like a painting from a fairytale, and the infrastructure is so convenient and user-friendly. We got the swiss pass which proposed a serious discount when we used public transportation, including trains...
Read moreWe love skiing here - some fantastic pistes and unbeatable views. But lift infrastructure a bit old and slow in places, and the three ski areas don't link up very well, necessitating buses or trains in Grindelwald or Lauterbrunnen. Overall though I'd say it's a fantastic ski area to visit, especially for intermediate to...
