Birg is an incredible mountain station located between MĂŒrren and the famous Schilthorn peak. At around 2,677 meters, it offers breathtaking views of the surrounding Alpsâincluding the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrauâwithout the crowds you might find at more well-known spots.
One of the highlights at Birg is the Thrill Walk, a steel and glass walkway that clings to the side of the cliff. Itâs exciting but safe, and offers spectacular views straight down the rock faceâperfect for those looking for a little adventure with their sightseeing. Itâs a fun and unique experience that adds a bit of adrenaline to your mountain visit.
The Skyline Walk viewing platform also provides an amazing perspective, letting you feel like you're floating above the mountains. Thereâs a restaurant at the station with large panoramic windows and a sun terrace, great for relaxing with a snack or drink while soaking in the views.
Birg is easy to reach via the cable car from MĂŒrren on the way to Schilthorn, and well worth a stop. Whether you're after thrilling views, epic photos, or just a peaceful place to enjoy the Alps, Birg delivers an...

Unlike Jungfraujoch, where large crowds are packed together (and peak season would be even worse, not to mention the multiple train rides to get there), my mom, my husband, and I had the entire mountain of Birg to ourselves. The view was far more dramatic than that of Jungfraujoch.
We enjoyed the thrill walk in complete solitude, and just as we were about to leave, we saw only three or four other people. It was a completely different, and far more enjoyable experience for us compared to Jungfraujoch.
FYI, Schilthorn-Piz Gloria, where the famous 007 movie was filmed, is closed until March 2025. We were really looking forward to experiencing the 360-degree rotating restaurant at the summit of the Swiss...
Read moreView is amazing but the service at the self-service is the most horrible. They donât want to help, grumpy, donât want to talk, no kindness, no smile no nothing. They order us/clients to say as little as possible and move out as quickly as possible. We were so excited to be up in the mountain and have some food with the most spectacular view but our mood was totally destroyed and disappointed by their service. I recommend anybody to come up here to grab sandwich or dried meet at Murren (village below) and pick your spot for best lunch. Donât spoil your experience by their...
