We did the Thrill Walk as part of our trip up to the Schilthorn. Birg is the halfway point to Schilthorn and is where one changes cable cars to finish going up to the Schilthorn or coming back down to Murren. There is a small outdoor cafe there as well that offers great views and looked like OK food but we did not order anything. We stopped there for the Thrill Walk. Just get off the cable car at the Birg stop and walk out onto the outdoor cafe area. On one end, you will see a small turnstyle and steps leading down. The Thrill walk is free as long as you got to this point (costs money to take the cable cars but free with Swiss Travel Pass, in 2019 anyway). Pretty fun but not for those who really do not like heights. Grated floor on walkway and totally safe. In one section you have the option to walk across a short section on a single cable while holding onto two other cables with a wire mesh below you for safety. Pretty wild. There is an option to walk around this just like the mesh tube you can crawl thru later on. That one is seemingly more sized for kids and small adults. At the end of Thrill Walk, easiest to just turn around and go back to the point you entered. Also, there was a small snow cave that one could walk down to from far end of the Walk. Inside were the remains of some ice sculptures. Apparently they do this every spring/early summer. Bit of a steep walk down to that and a bit slippery on snow parts but was a bit of extra fun. Overall, pretty fun and some great views down toward Murren and the surrounding mountains and valleys. Great as part of the package to go to the Schilthorn, especially if you have a Swiss Travel Pass. Pretty sure we would not have done any of this if we had to pay $105 each. A solid 4 stars for the Thrill Walk without thinking about the money. ...
Read moreThe Thrill Walk in Birg is an unforgettable experience that combines adrenaline with breathtaking alpine scenery. Even though the entire path wasn’t fully open during my visit, the parts that were accessible offered more than enough excitement and visual splendor to make the trip worthwhile. Suspended walkways, glass panels, and steel structures cling to the cliffside, giving you the sensation of walking on air, an exhilarating feeling that’s hard to match. The views from Birg are absolutely unique. Despite some cloud cover that obscured parts of the panorama, the dramatic peaks and deep valleys still managed to impress. The shifting mist added a mysterious charm to the landscape, making the experience feel almost surreal. What truly stood out was how well the walk is integrated into the natural surroundings, offering a safe yet thrilling way to engage with the mountain environment. It’s a must-do for anyone visiting the region, and even with limited visibility, it remains one of the most memorable...
Read moreYou feel on top of the world on the Thrill Walk in Birg. Take the cable car up from the town of Murren and enjoy the spectacular views of the Alps on the way up. You see the big 3 mountains perfectly from the Thrill Walk. There’s a tight rope section for those seeking an extra sense of danger. Highly recommend especially if you’re on your way further up to Schilthorn. Just note that the cable car up is the same mode of transport taken by the skiers/snowboarders so you’ll likely be stuffed into the car like sardines on the way there. However the ride down is much more spacious devoid of the skiers/snowboarders. Suggest you make the trip as early as possible to avoid the many tourists and comfortably enjoy the thrill walk. Price of admission is also partially covered by the Swiss...
