It is such a spectacular place to learn about the culture and peopled who lived within that castle ( owners and servants, etc). Located right on lake Thun. We were debating which castle that we should go amongst the 5 in the area, however, we were glad that we chose this.
5 flight of stairs with 2 sets -one for the servant and one for the owner that decorated with the red carpet. There is a beautiful garden and some what modern after countless times of renovation. There is information in each room that take the visitor back in time. There is also a hidden room that recites the background of this places - this room connects to the first dinning hall - next to the kitchen. It is easy to miss. Don't forget to visit the smoke room since the owner selectively had it in an Arabic style . I went to many castles but so far this is the best since it is so detail-oriented and the staff are super helpful. This won't cover in the swiss pass but if you have the visitor pass then you would get some discount. Plenty of parking lot available if you...

The iconic keep, with its pointed roofs and turrets, stands majestically over Lake Thun, creating a fairy-tale-like appearance with breathtaking views of the lake and the surrounding mountains. Strolling along the lakefront promenade or relaxing on the castle terrace offers a tranquil and scenic experience.
It is easily accessible by public transportation, with regular boat and bus services connecting it to nearby towns like Thun and Interlaken. There is also ample parking for those arriving by car. The castle grounds and lower floors are accessible for visitors with mobility issues, though some upper floors may be...
Read moreHad a visit when we were in Thun. This one might not be as famous as the Chillon Castle but still beautiful enough and it is by the lake. You can easily either take a bus from the train station or get a ferry to reach there. There is one more thing that worth mentioning is that the Castle has a very well-maintained garden (The one behind the castle, not the one in the castle). There are many benches with lake views and on top of that it is for free to enter and walk around. We had a pleasant picnic there even though it rained, but then we still got to find a little wooden house as a shelter in the garden. Definitely recommend to the travellers...
