If you travel by bus, you need to catch bus 192 from Weissbad all the way to bus stop called "Brülisau, Kastenbahn". From there you will hike about 2 hours (mostly uphill) but it is totally worth it! The view is simply incredible! There is also a restaurant there where you can grab a bite while enjoying the view.

The lake is breathtaking, though I missed the famous viewpoint above the mountain hut. Accessible only by hiking, it remains pleasantly uncrowded—a blessing that preserves its tranquility. I arrived at the lake near day's end, and the solitude made it even more enchanting. The experience was truly stunning!

Eingebettet zwischen den steilen Felsflanken der Widderalpstöcken, dem Hundstein im Norden, dem Altmann, Saxerfirst im Osten und der Kreuzberge bezaubert der Fälensee im Kanton Appenzell Innerrhoden. Die Sicht von der Terrasse des Restaurant Bollenwees auf den Fählensee ist sensationell, der See hat einen unterirdische Ablauf und tritt im Rheintal wieder zutage und liegt auf einer Höhe von 1447m. Der Fälensee sieht auch einem norwegischen Fjord ähnlich 🔝💯 mit seinen steil abfallenden Felswänden (Alpstein-Fjord). Unsere Tour führte von Brülisau zum Parkplatz Pfannenstiel (Gebühr CHF 5.00 pro Tag) dann über das Plattenbödeli zum Fählensee, die Wanderzeit für den Hinweg beträgt ca. 2 -2.5 Stunden, also insgesamt 4 - 5 Stunden mit Rückweg. @labrador_for_ever_verrazzano

Fälensee is a lake in the Alpstein range of the canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden, Switzerland. At an elevation of 1446 m, the surface area is 0.12 km². It is located in a narrow valley between Hundsteingrat and Roslen-Saxer First.
