A „must“ place for people living in Switzerland! We visited with 3 teenagers. They liked to see the „real“ Bundesbrief, they knew theoretically from school! We also found the answer to the question where and how the Swiss flags comes from and why it is the only flag in the world that is a square! And you see why the flag of Canton Schwyz(SZ) is similar but different! Many things to see and learn or refresh. Nice garden outside. Place in easy 5min-walk reach from busstation „Zentrum“. We spent 90...

A must-visit for history buffs when in the region. This unassuming museum houses some of the most important documents from the early days of the Swiss confederation. An informative audio guide leads you through the exhibit. There are several dozen of medieval treaties, all with huge seals, on display, including the famous 1291 Rütlischwur document (albeit now contested by historians). A small gift shop and cafe on site. Friendly and...

The original earliest treaties which lay the foundation of the Swiss confederation can be seen here. There are also a number of touch-screens explaining in great detail the origins and early history of the Swiss confederation (in German, French Italian and English). Very instructive if you want to understand exactly how the Swiss confederation came into place.

Nothing very spectacular though - no arms, no armors, no battle scenes or...

The Federal Charter Museum in the cantonal capital of Schwyz can be easily reached by bus from the train station. You will be greeted warmly and given an audio guide. The museum consists of the entrance area and the room in which the many great documents and also the Federal Charter can be seen. The audio guide is extensive and the many documents are explained very well
