Whale Plaza — Attraction in Checheng

The National Museum of Marine Biology & Aquarium is a great place for a family trip. It’s a little far to reach since it needs a large area so its location is in a much remote area. It would take for at least about 3 hours by driving to the museum's parking lot (charge by hours) from the Kaohsiung Train Station. The Normal ticket is NTD$450, as for myself, since I have a valid student ID of the University, so I could buy the Concessions ticket which is NTD$250. There are a wide variety of living creatures in the museum and the aquarium, containing several districts from different regions of the world's environment. The museum got audio guidance contains the information of the museum which supports multi-language for guests who want to visit by their own pace. Also, there will be staffs introducing different topic at a different area, share the knowledge of different creatures in the aquarium, and no need to worried if you’ll be extra charged because it’s free for everyone whoever wants to participate.

Besides, each day they got different programs which are much active that people got chance to interact with the marine creatures in the shortest distance. Such like the touch pool, which is specially designed for people and mostly for kids to got a chance to touch how the mysterious little living feels like, suck like starfish, crabs, sea cucumbers etc. According to the experience of myself visiting, the area will become crowded if you go to the touching pool after the time it begins to open so you’d better check for the time earlier and get a good position waiting for the opening time to get a happy experience.

There are many areas in the National Museum, if you’ve got young kids with you, you might need to design the best path to experience as much place as you can go before starting your visiting. Also, it’s not allowed to eat or drink in the exhibition areas. I didn’t saw any restaurant for proper meals in the park. However, there are some stores and vendors outside at the platform which sells fast foods at a slightly higher price than you could find at other places. Therefore, I recommend people who decide to spend a longer time at here prepare some food and beverages by yourself and bring it with you for the visiting.
