05/08/25, I went to the Chiayi Art Museum today and enjoyed the art very much. Much of the art included 3 artists born in Chiayi around the 1930s. Their impressioniat art pieces bring life to some of the history of this area. There is a scene of logs loaded on a train cargo bed picturing logging from Alishan, some street and alley scenes of giving me a feeling of everyday life in Taiwan 80 years ago. Some scenes of the architecture of the day. Scenes of Kaosiung Harbor, another of a boat returning to harbor. Somehow these artists make their work come alive. The Chiayi Art museum building was originally constructed in 1936 as a factory of the Chiayi branch of Taiwan Tobacco and Wine Monopoly Bureau during the Japanese occupation, In 2020, it was remodeled as Chiayi Art Museum

Excellent located just 5 minutes walk from local Train station

English translations were given next to the mandarin on every piece which was very nice. There is also luggage storage available and staff were very helpful.
