CHENG SHiH CURRY — Restaurant in Chiayi

The service was great initially until I realised I was served samosa with chicken stuffing. Samosa is usually stuffed with potatoes. Even in the menu, it never said it’s a “Chicken Samosa”, it just said Samosa so I guessed it would be the same normal samosa that a samosa is everywhere. The server got upset because I didn’t confirm it was vegetarian. For every item in the menu, I confirmed if it was vegetarian, even for cheese nan for that matter. I thought by that she could have guessed that I wanted the Samosa to be vegetarian too. But well, I was served chicken samosa. Thankfully the samosa was torn when I picked it up and sensed that it wasn’t looking vegetarian and confirmed so no harm done as such. We weren’t charged for the dish either. However, it would have been really nice to have “Chicken Samosa” written in the menu. Also, other things weren’t exactly good either. If you’re Indian, I would say don’t go to this place unless you don’t have a choice at all. Actually you might not have any choices as such because even I couldn’t find any Indian restaurant in Chiayi near me. But, still, do not go in with high hopes! The food is not Indian. It’s just “curry” whatever curry is 🙄. I would just want to say to the restaurant that you should have given some thought to the menu and clientele before designing the menu. Really nice curry, the taste is balanced with well cooked rice and you can refill the rice if needed. We tried Masala and Kashmir, both are amazing but Kashmir is a bit strong if you’re not a fan of spicy and sour. Also recommend the drinks there, we tried the milk tea and found the great balance between spices, tea and milk.
