Visited Tiangongtan Park on a Friday afternoon into the evening during my business trip to Taiwan. Currently staying in Hsinchu, having come from Austria, I was looking for a peaceful place to unwind—and this park delivered beautifully. Rather surprised and shocked at the number of statues of spirit underworld characters. Not sure why this is the case... is it to scare away bad denizens of the spirit underworld? But even the shrines that people worship and make offerings are dedicated to what clearly appear to be spirit underworld characters. Isn't one supposed to be worshiping something less shady? It just doesn't seem right.
