We ended up visiting here twice within a week because we enjoyed it so much! This is a Taiwan treasure that allows you to get up close with a variety of insects. The staff here is super friendly and helpful. One young man who gave us a personal tour on both occasions speaks excellent English and was very knowledgeable about the insects and their origins. We got to handle almost every insect and even got to hold a live tarantula! There are some talking macaws, turtles, bunnies (you can buy food for 30nt in the cafe), a guinea pig, and a cool butterfly pavilion with hundreds of butterflies and caterpillars. This is a family owned attraction that was started by the grandfather decades ago. There is a nice museum upstairs with a tribute to the grandfather and thousands of immaculately mounted butterflies and other insects. Admission was only 120 NT and money well spent - entertaining and highly educational experience. They have a nice gift shop and a cafe that serves a variety of fresh teas, coffee, and food items including a chicken rice curry dish. You should put this on your "must visit" list if you are ever...

On the second floor are the multiple specimen box displays. About half are beetles from around the world, and half butterflies. On the way out you might enjoy a meal and coffee or tea in the cafe. We were there on a Saturday afternoon and there were dozens of guest. I imagine it's quieter...
