Short trail that is about 750m long (or 1.1km total from the main parking lot near the cafe). Easy and suitable for young children and elderly. The first set of steps leading up offers a moderate challenge if you haven't acclimatised to the altitude yet.

Offers a good view of the (slightly higher) surrounding peaks - Hehuan East, North and a bird's eye view of the road leading in from Wuling and onward deeper into Taroko National Park. At the right times of day, you can see the clouds below you in the distance start to roll into the valley below.

Slightly better views from the summits of Hehuan North Peak and Hehuan East Peak, but those trails are both definitely more...

Taroko gorge was an awesome place to visit, one of my favorite stops in Taiwan. I hiked several of the trails using the bus system which made transport from Hualien easy overall. The buses run every hour which makes it possible to get 2 or 3 hikes done in a single day. The only downside was that all of the hikes were short, at under 5km, except for a few.

This trail was on the mountain pass from Hualien to sun moon lake and definitely worth stopping to hike up. Maybe 1 hour max was...

A beautiful trail for watching the sunrise. You'll want to set off early, as parking is limited at the top of the mountains. However, you should be prepared to negotiate a pass road in the dark, some of which is quite narrow. The trail offers some beautiful viewpoints and is relatively manageable in terms of elevation. Early in the morning, it was practically deserted. If you're lucky with the weather, you might be able to observe the sea of ​​clouds in...
