Yide Mansion — Attraction in Taichung

This is a great little place to spend an hour or two at. The grounds are very pretty (extremely photogenic) and the building, which is more than a century old, is well maintained. The time are finished with antiques, old paintings, and other trinkets from the appropriate period. We went in the heart of summer, so it was stifling walking the grounds. We had an amazing lunch served by Mr. Yang Shih Jie. My three kids were well taken care of and they loved every single dish. The steamed rice is perfectly cooked and they had nearly one bowl each aged 6, 4 and 1. Of course the mango ice cream is highly recommended!! Very unique and cool place to visit. Ran into the gardener who came from Holland. He is such an awesome 76 years old guy with good heart. There is no entrance fee either.
